Default Iím back for good

Well I have been on and off this diet for years and always fell off the wagon and I should of stayed on because now I am pre diabetic and I have high blood pressure, going for a glucose test tomorrow to find out for sure tomorrow, plus I have over 100 pounds to lose. I unfortunately needed this shock to really get myself focused on my health, I have seen what diabetes has done to my dad and itís scary! Iím really focused now on reversing this diagnosis now and I hear low carb is the way to go. Hi All and thanks for listening to my story

you heard right. this is a lifestyle change. you become your own N-1 experiment and this journal is where you document it.
take measurements.
document it.
keep at it. you will lose the weight, re-energize, and you will have it all, right here in this journal.
make good use of it.

welcome back.
enjoy the journey.
learn who you are.

IT IS AWESOME.

Believe me when I say what you give up is so tiny compared to what you will get.

You can do this Marsha! I know all the experts say you can't stick to this way of eating, but that's a lie, particularly if you're a carb/insulin addict like me! I not only can stick with this WOE, I HAVE to stick with it, because if I try moderation I go off the rails.

Diabetes can BLIND you! Take warning. I'm pre-diabetic too, and I am legally blind, but not from diabetes. I was born blind. However, diabetes can still affect me. I'm 51 and my vitreous get in my eye is separating and my vision has been greatly affected by this in the past year. I've lost more sight... But anyways, I had foot surgery in March and it's a year long recovery, and last week I suffered a horrific back injury when I tore my lowest lumbar disc and it leaked out, causing my left leg to go numb and sciatic pain to my toes like I've never experienced before.... I sat around and ate a ton recovering from my foot surgery. Put on over 70lbs I guess. And now I can hardly walk from this back injury. It scared me so much, and now I'm back to the south beach diet and general low-carbing however I can. Desperate to lose this weight.

Where is everybody? This forum used to be so busy a few years ago, and it's the best forum out here! Nice to 'meet' you guys. We can do this!

Welcome Marsha! You've made the first step, now just start and take it one day at a time. Don't worry about rushing the weight loss, just keep eating low carb and it will come off. I am down 90 pounds and have 30 more to go myself to reach my goal. It is a lifetime change but it gets easier the longer you eat this way. You know that if you go back to old habits that the weight will come back on, and unfortunately, its always easier to gain weight than to lose it.

My advice is to just start and take it one day at a time, and before you know it your weight will be dropping.

Best of luck and stay on the message board. Lots of encouragement and information here. Remember that a lapse in eating right does not need to knock you off track permanently.......just get back on the wagon!

I was going to originally follow the SBD again-- but with the confusion about whether or not we could eat legumes the first 2 weeks, it has made me avoid beans altogether. And even though it is only Day 4 for me today, I am already down almost 5 lbs! I've been eating a lot of meat, cheese, veggies, butter, eggs, and drinking a ton of water every day so far, so I'm pretty much just LCing it right now. I guess I'll be back to visiting this section of the forum a lot. :-)

Besides, I really like how in a general LC/HF woe, you can eat a lot of butter, cream, etc. and when doing the SBD, they want you to eat less high fat foods. I remember making some very tasty fat bombs last time around!! :-D And all of that cream in the coffee, yum!

What lbangle said.

--One day at a time. It's about health, not weight.
--Stay on the Board. Start a journal.
--If you fall off, get back on. I know this one!!

Best wishes.
