Default November 2023 Daily Weigh-In - Everyone Welcome!

This is a friendly and supportive group. We celebrate victories, both scale and non-scale. We cheer for you for keeping on going in the wake of adversity. We wait patiently every day with you who have slow losses. Everyone is welcome to join right in at any time.

Start by putting the date and then your weight. Each day, copy and paste your entry from the day before and add that day's weight. (Hint: an easy way to do this is to hit "quote" in your previous post, then delete the 2 quote tags at the beginning and end of your new post. This will preserve any formatting and smilies you had.) It's a good way to keep a record of your progress.

Why Weigh Daily?
  • Gives you a sense of accountability and a reminder to be cognizant of your daily choices
  • Helps you monitor conditions that can cause rapid fluctuations: edema, dehyrdation, side effects of medications, PMS, etc
  • Helps you to become desensitized to normal fluctuations and periods of little or no weight loss
  • You're able to "catch" a new low, or beginning of a trend upward, that might escape you if you weigh less frequently.

Daily weighing isn't for everyone, and that's okay, too. It's probably not a good idea if it would cause you undue anxiety and unhappiness when the scale isn't budging as fast as you'd like or expect.

Good morning everyone. I would also like to join your thread. The lose 5lbs and lose 10lbs challenges seem to me that they would be distracting to me, as I need to continue with my full efforts even if someone loses their 5lbs quicker than I do. I’d like to join the walking thread but everyone’s walking stats look too intimidating right now, plus i haven’t put my new mini stepper together yet. So i am going with this daily weigh-in thread for now, as this is something I already do daily. My reach goal is -50lbs in 3 months from today. I am really embarrassed to be posting my super high weight here, but maybe this is a good additional public reality check of what I don’t want to be anymore. In any case, my goal for this month is to get out of the 3s!!!

Honeypie, welcome, your story sound wonderful, it is great to have such high goals, but if you don't reach them, just re-do your goal and keep going. I am in a wheelchair, so I can't do much exercise/walking to burn calories-can't even get out of the house after my spinal surgery. But I'm not in agonizing pain anymore. at 74 years old, my monthly goal is 5 lbs-I'll get there eventually. Slowly she lost, bit by bit.

Welcome aboard, Hon.

What I like about the walking thread is that it's non-competitive - we just set our own goals. I happen to work a crazy job on my feet, but when I'm laid off or on vacation, it's been helpful to get me out of the house when I'd otherwise hunker down. Feel free to join us if you're ever feeling ready.

Good luck and good health.
