Default New to Forum & Schwarzbein

Hello all!

I am 30 years old and am new to this forum and to low carbing in general. I Just finished reading The Schwarzbein Principle and am now reading The Schwarzbein Principle II The Transition.

I have been having a hard time with carb cravings for juice and bread.

I have been on a bunch of weight loss programs before -- Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, Atkins (no carbs at all), the cabbage soup diet, Meridia weight loss drug.

The highest weight I have ever been was 319 a few years ago. I am just looking to end this cycle of food abuse and heal my metabolism!

I have been on this food roller coaster since I was in about 1st grade when my parents decided I was too chubby and put me in "husky" boys clothing. Ever since then it has been a battle with malnutrition which just made me fatter and learning what healthy "normal" portions really are.

I am happy to meet you all and look forward to posting here on the forum and reading your posts.

Anyone who is near my weight and age who wants to be an email buddy please email me. neonapple~hotmail.com

Amy

Hi Amy!

Welcome to the forum. I am new, too. It's not too busy around here, so I thought I would drop in and say hi. I am also 30 yrs old and new to LC and Schwarzbein. I weigh myself tomorrow, so I will know how it is working then. I don't think I have lost much in the past 3-4 weeks I've been on the plan, but I keep telling myself I need to eat natural, whole foods and worry about the rest later. I do know my pants are loose and my skin looks excellent. I hope you have great results on the program!

Again, welcome!
Angela

Hi

Welcome to both of you. I hope you enjoy the Schwartzbein Board. There is some really great advice that has been given through the years. I see that some of you are accessing it as I read the post on which Schwartzbein are you a couple of weeks ago in the Archives.

Enjoy, Marty

Hi Amy and Angela,
I am also brand new to SP (doing book III - the Program) and loving it so far (though I'm only on day 3.) Did have some migraine headaches these past few days but I think that has more to do with the pressure of starting the fall semester (grad school) than it does being on SP. I'm at goal so I'm using SP as a way to focus on healthy living and maintain, though I'm starting out with the healing plan.

It's true that so far I haven't seen too much action on this board but whenever I've put out a question, people have always popped in to answer, so there is definately some wonderful support for SP.

Hope to see more people posting.

Tam

I have been doing Schwartzbein for a little over a week and have lost 4 lbs. I didn't do it to lose weight. I felt so sickly that the weight wasn't even an issue anymore. (though I'm about 50 lb. overweight) I just wanted to feel good again. I must say its the easiest weight loss I've even done. Tried Atkins, felt terrible. I feel good and no food cravings.

My advise: Don't obscess. Stick with normal portions, try to get those veggies in and pick your favorite low carb bread, or whatever to go with your meal, and take your vitamins, especially a mult B complex.

I have not weighed any food or counted any grams. Just do the palm size portion of protein at meals and about half of that at snacks. Carbs are easy. Nothing worth more than one slice of bread. Keep the fiber up. Veggies have been free for me, as well as salads fit four four people, chuck full of nuts, croutons, and anything else I could find that looked good, including my favorite salad dressings.

Three meals, two snacks and an occasional bedtime low carb cookie and decaf tea to help me sleep. This almost seems too good and I think it will be easy to maintain for life.

I hope and PRAY that this continues. My diabetes was out of control and I was feeling like twice my age. I havn't found the strength to start exercising yet, but I hope it comes. (my job is very physical and leaves me exausted) I've been trying to heal my adrenals by sleeping in on my days off and getting to bed at a reasonable time on work days. Thats something people tend to ignore, but it means so much.

Love to keep talking w/others on this plan for support!
