Default Managing flushing of menopause

I just have flushing in my face and chest so far. Any tips for managing this, what the triggers are? It doesn't bother me much but I look like a lobster.

Triggers - spicy food, caffeine, stress, heat.

I used progesterone cream (helped the whole process) and vit E, exercise.

I still have a couple a year. Mine mostly happened at my job.

Thanks. I will avoid caffeine. Sometimes I drink caffeinated tea but no coffee. I already exercise. Did you use the vitamin E and progesterone on your skin?

Refined and/or excess carbs used to be my trigger. I managed them with a LC diet and using bio-identical progesterone and bi-est cream.

As in a hot flash? Listening to today's bonus interview https://forum.lowcarber.org/showthread.php?t=481843. with Keto dietician Beth Zupec-Kania. Her own experience using Ketone breath meters showed her hot flashes were in response to the hormone insulin rise after eating carbs. Originally she was working with patients and the Keto diet, eventually used it herself to eliminate hot flashes.

No, and mine are unrelated to what I eat but it could be related to insulin rise if it's caused by stress, etc. It's literally just facial flushing. I don't feel hot or anything. My allergist noticed it and wanted to test me for all kinds of rare mast cell disorders. I declined and finally figured out it's just related to perimenopause. Doctor's offices will trigger it (maybe the chemicals?). My face burns a little and I get very red but that's it. I don't have the night sweats or anything like that. I'm Irish and very prone to facial flush anyway but this is way more intense.

My DD2 is like that. She's strawberry blond and fair skin. Her's flairs if she eats farm raised shrimp because wild caught doesn't do that to her. Wine also does it to her, maybe the sulfates? She has also self diagnosed (since childhood) egg white allergy and nut allergy, although she can have peanuts because it's a legume.

On your big flushes, it could be the rise and fall of BS because I think that is a real thing as the hormone insulin goes up and down.

I think it's just related to hormone swings related to perimenopause. I'm just at that age. This is very different from flushing I get from wine, carbs, etc.

Yes she is in her 20s so it is very different. When I started low carb, I completely lost any type of hot flashes I had had, although It wasn't bad like some people but every once in a while it did happen. I attributed it the fact that it stopped completely at that time due to the fact that my blood sugar had no swings at all anymore.

My triggers were caffeine and alcohol. My two favorite things! Well, the coffee especially. It went away in about a year or two.

Some things that help me:

staying low carb
not too much tea
keeping portion sizes constant (not too much protein or fat)

I don't eat spices, except occasionally black pepper.

Avoiding preservatives, additives, really artificial anything. Buying organic and grass-fed is key for me. If I don't, the hot flashed and other symptoms are strong.

Also, staying with low salicylate, low amine (including histamine) foods helps me.

I take Evening Primrose oil, and boron. They help me. Good rest and gentle exercise (restorative yoga) help me.

I wish you success.
