I bought my Live grains from Fusion Teas in Texas, The same place Mike bought his. It's almost like I got to the saturation point since it took a few weeks to happen.
Need to go back and read all of those links Mike posted.
Going back to click on all of the links Mike posted above. It's very detailed and the most informative I've ever read!

Many bacteria cannot tolerate acidic environments, especially under anaerobic conditions. Bacteria are generally neutrophiles. They grow best at neutral pH close to 7.0. Acidophiles grow optimally at a pH near 3.0. Alkaliphiles are organisms that grow optimally between a pH of 8 and 10.5. Microorganisms grow best at their optimum growth pH.

Kefir bacteria and yeasts, like sourdough, are acid loving. Not sure of the pH, but it can etch enamel like lemon juice or vinegar, but I haven't had a problem. My teeth are less sensitive now, and they do not stain at all like they used to.

Now that you mention it Mike, my teeth dont stain like they used to either.

We often forget that teeth are living tissue, and the environment ( our mouth) affects the teeth more than just at the surface.

I have often pondered the old ways of eating , like cheese and fruit for dessert. Or yogurt..... and not the laced with sugar types. Perhaps the cheese does have a beneficial effect that negates the fruit. No confirmed answer yet though on my theory.

I was reading on science digest, a woman had a broken a hip, a life threatening infection ensued. They made a targeted bacteria that went in and killed the infection. I couldn't read how they made it without paying for the article.

Mike isn't it the acids that are secreted from the type of bacteria that live on sucrose that cause cavities? I used to live next door to a dentist who was always passing out sugar-free gum because the AS works as an antibiotic.

I'm don't know what happens with LC. When I first start out the amount of plaque on my teeth hugely increases but about a week after that it goes down a great deal.

Yes, in theory acid can etch enamel. I sometimes use Orbit Gum that contains Xylitol for oral health. It's poison to dogs though.

NAWCHEW, I have found my best results are with brushing with baking soda and Low carb. My teeth get fuzzy from the carbs, and they are the truth tellers when I have gone off plan.
