Question On the run snack ideas

What do you eat for a snack when you're out and about? I usually bring an Atkins bar with me, but I think they might be messing with me now. I've been reading on here that some people believe that sugar alcohols make you stall or gain. Does everybody have this problem? Is it proven? The Atkins bars are a great snack for me. If I'm out doing errands and get hungry, they do the job. If I should stay away from them, what else can I throw in my bag that is a good snack?

Hi Janey,

For those bars... I can say they do not affect me at all.
I enjoy one or two sometimes a day, and have for the lenght about 3 months. I am loosing right along too!
Other snacks I grab for on the go are:
Celery with or with out a smear of cream cheese.
String cheese in little packages ( great for stuffing in your purse ) or sliced cheese.
cucumbers marinated all night long in lemon water. Just toss them in a zip lock with a ice cube in it.
hard boiled eggs.
ham and cheese roll ups, or speared hot dogs. ( hebrew national brand )
peporoni chips. ( place 10 or 12 on a paper plate micro for 1 min or so... till darkened and crunchy, let cool and then place in a baggy )
Atkins also makes Crunchers.. a chip type snack, check the carb level however and the serving size.

Thats all I can think of for now.
Hope that gave you some ideas.

I like Pumpkorn as a snack to have in my car or purse for those tempting times. I never cared for pumpkin seeds before, but these are just the insides without the shells and are very tasty. There is also no danger of it melting like the chocolate and a small amount is actually quite filling.

A classic Atkins snack is macadamia nuts. I often put 10-20 in a small (snack size) zip lock bag. My teenaged daughter has started taking them as a snack when she has dance class right after school and no time to eat. They have a great taste, up your fat ratios (this is a good thing!) and keep you full.

Thanx for the suggestions. I really appreciate it. I love macadamia nuts, but they are so expensive! Are there any other nuts that are the same nutrional value?

I prefer pecans; they taste fantastic out of the bag, or microwaved with a couple of dots of butter and cinnamon/splenda sprinkled on top.

hi Janey,
Ive always endulged(or sometimes overindulge) on sf chocolates,
protein bars but they never really affect me when it comes to gaining
or stalling. I remember having a full week of eating those stuff and I
never gained a pound from those. There was this day when I ate 2 bags
of russle stover pb, 1 pure delite milk choco, 2 slim fast succeed bars,
and half of an Atkins endulge bars. And the next morning I didn't even
gain a lb! What would make me gain though are those lc breads! (which
is not really a weakness for me). I guess we're all different.

Not being sarcastic, but did you poop the day away? Sheesh! If I ate more than three pieces of SF candy I'd spend the day on the pot and not gain either!

LOL you guys are so funny. The SF candy doesn't give me the poops, but it does make me crave sugar. And I'm not really a sweet eater. The only time I have a SF candy bar is when AF is about to visit. Then I spend days trying to get off the withdrawal from them.

Like Honeybfly said...we're all different.

I like to take 1/4-cup of almonds (plain, not salted). They're nice and crunchy/chewy. If I force myself to eat them one at a time, they are very satisfying.

When I ate the Atkins Bars, it did make me crave other sugars and I didn't lose weight. Besides, I don't think that they are as good as the shakes - and that's what I have when I get a craving.

I love the smokehouse almonds or the salted almonds! They are my snack of choice. I do have one piece of hard sf candy from time to time...lasts longer, but certainly not filling.

Take care,
Elle

For a quick snack, I carry vienna sausages, pepperoni slices, Atkins shakes, boiled eggs, and I always have precooked sausage patties.

Beef jerky is a great snack to have along with you. I have found a brand with no sugar, so that helps a lot.
