My daughter was FAT as a baby. She was probably about the weight of yours when she was that age. People used to comment on her weight all the time with things like "she's so solid", or "just weight till she starts walking around, then she'll lose the fat". She was my first and I just didn't see it, I thought she was perfect. I used to get so offended by what people would say. Anyways should you be concerned? She's a baby so don't worry about it. I just saw a pediatrician about some pecularities with my baby boy, one of which is that he is very small and has little appetite (which is the opposite of my other children). The Dr told me that since he isn't a rapidly growing baby, he may not feel the need for the calories so he doesn't bother eating. He also doesn't need alot of fat stores since he is such a little runt. My others were fairly tall, but not off the charts tall. They carried a little extra fat. The seemed to be at the chubbiest from about 8 months to 18 months. Some kids just grow that way, they get wide, then thin out as they get taller. I also breastfed so I couldn't have been overfeeding because they have to work for all their calories that way. As for my chuncky daughter, she didn't immediately lose lots of fat when she started walking. She was always a bit of a chubby preschooler (but not obese or even overweight). After she started school she gradually lost over the first few years there and is now a slender 9 year old. I have another that was sort of the same way (not quite as chubby) and he has really slimmed down this year since he started kindergarten. They all grow in their own way, if you are feeding her properly, let her appetite be your guide. Don't worry about the weight at this age. I bet your baby is a real cutie.
