Default Nature of the Bactericidal Substance in Urine of Patients on Ketogenic Diet, 1933.

I found this study mentioned at Stan Bleszynki's blog, Heretic .

THE NATURE OF THE BACTERICIDAL SUBSTANCE IN THE URINE OF PATIENTS RECEIVING A KETOGENIC DIET.

BY ALBERT THOMAS FULLER.

From the Bernhard Baron Memorial Research Laboratories, Queen Charlotte's Hospital, London, W. 6.

(Received May 10th, 1933.)

SUMMARY.

The principal factor inhibiting the growth of bacteria in the urine from patients receiving the ketogenic diet is l-beta-hydroxybutyric acid.
The activity of this substance increases in proportion to the acidity of the urine.

The study tests acidifying salts on people with urinary infections on a ketogenic diet.

Begs the question does this work in other parts of the body, or only limited to the urine producing organs?

And since there is a decrease in pH , can a whole body change in pH alter the microbes that flourish all over the body, in a good way???

An inquiring min wants to know.

Hi, Arielle. I would like to know this, too.

Here is a blog post about Dr. Kwasniewski's Optimal Diet. She has a couple of good links.

Dr. Kwasniewski states somewhere that it is good to have the body be more acidic. If I find the references, I'll post them.

I don't remember if the references are in his books, are on Peter Dobromylskyj's blog, Hyperlipid.

ETA: Found a reference in a comment at Hyperlipid. I think it is from Homo Optimus, but I don't have time to look for the reference in the book.

Here's the comment excerpt, from varg, after this blog post :

This as Dr Kwasniewski claims that high uric acid levels are associated with a higher intelligence and at the same time claiming that OD gives higher uric acid levels.

OD stands for Optimal Diet.

There are several threads here about Dr. K's Optimal Diet. They are easy to find using the following in a search engine:

site:https://forum.lowcarb.org Kwasniewski

After the .org, skip one space, and then type in the desired search term. All entries with that term will appear in the list.

Thanks EM. The link to the blog has me gearing up to get back to the garden instead of more reading...... for now while its lovely out. Rain for days due this weekend.

Ive read enough elsewhere to fully understand that a grain based diet causes the body angst. It works too hard to keep the proper pH normalized by using up the calcium in our bones. Eating a diet of mostly meat and some veg stop the loss of bone. ( And I added Vit K2 to builld the bone correctly and all the other minerals to create bone as it is not just calcium.)

Is sort of funny how this all comes full circle. Eating correctly is everything.

Yes, and the fine tuning seems to take a lifetime to work out, as least for me.

Because our environment is so artificial: and the social pressure to be "normal" is so great.

Arielle, do you mean the changes in our bodies due to all the environmental poisons?
