Default UK Tesco - 97% pork sausages

To all the brits around here, my local tesco megastore have just started stocking a new brand of sausages in their fresh meat section, called "Heck". They're made from UK pork shoulder and gluten free.

There were 3 types; 97% pork, pork & herb and pork & apple.

The 97% pork sausage had around 2.8g carbs per 2 grilled sausages which is the lowest I've ever seen. The herb version had slightly more, around 3.8g I think. I didn't check the apple version.

What a good find!

Though not 100% induction friendly to my mind, the 97% meat ones seem fine for an Atkineer once at the dairy rung, as the only non-induction ingredients are milk powder.

Their other varieties do contain corn and rice flour as well as the other flavouring ingredients like apple, so strictly speaking would not be an option till the grains rung of OWL

Hi there,

I'm not sure how induction friendly or atkins friendly (in general) these are, but it hasn't caused me to stall....yet (early days).

They're 1.2 carbs for two! AND they are outdoor bred piggy's also!

Oh wow, are they 100% pork? Can't see nutritional info..

It says 100% farmed in UK, but nothing else...

I doubt that any British style sausages are 100% meat, as traditional recipes always add some kind of starch to bind them

You will find some continental ones with only meat and herbs/spices (plus preservatives) but as far as I know the only way to have 100% meat sausages in the UK is to make them yourself or get a tame butcher to do them for you.

Ah, thought so. Ill look out for continental ones, and see how it goes with these sausages. If I stall or gain! You'll all know about it

Not really, just taste like regular pork sausages, but more meatier. I have about 3 a day or less. I'm worried if I eat more I'd stall. So far so good.

We butchered our own hogs and the guys bought a pre made sausage seasoning mix. I was mad at them for it thinking it was loaded with sugar but I finally got to read the packet tonight and it said "salt, seasonings." So unless they hide sugar under "seasonings" now, I'm tickled to death! We didn't add any fillers or binders and only this packet of seasoning.
