Question Re: Ketosis/No loss

I just found this website today and I think it's so great! Since Feb 2001 I have lost 60lbs (4months). This entire month, I have been in Ketosis, but I'm not losing any weight. In fact last month, my weight loss was SIGNIFICANTLY lower than prior months. I check my Ketosis status daily and my strips are always showing a positive, YES YOU ARE IN KETOSIS PINK/PURPLE, but no weight loss. Just this month (June 01) I joined a gym. I'm hoping to tone up as I've lost 60lbs so I have flab (or loose skin, yuck!). I do weight training 3days and cardio 2 days. I use to hate the word 'exercise' but I absolutely love going to the gym even though I'm the chubbiest one there. Any clues as to why I'm in Ketosis, yet not showing a loss on my scales? Good luck to everyone out there who is going through this!

Welcome aboard Ali,

Congrats on your 60 lbs loss!

You have been low-carbing for a few months, and you may be experiencing a normal plateau. This is very normal on a lon term diet, and it's part of cycle. The weight loss should continue after a couple of weeks as long as nothing changed from what you were doing, no special medicine or health conditions have come up, and your metabolism is not slowed down by undereating.

Have you taken measurements? Often, you may not lose weight bu would lose inches, particularly when you are exercising as you would be building muscle and losing fat. In this case you would become leaner while not lighter, but this nothing to feel bad about.

Looking forward to hearing about your progress!

Wa'il
