Update:
Had a couple of days off but managed to get one elliptical session in, in spite of being assigned the job of decoration assistant.
I haven't been on the elliptical in ages. I prefer to do my cardio at work, because my job is more than full time and the shifts are 12 hours long. After work I just want to drop.
Anyhow, it was... different after months of stairs. For one thing, it was continuous! For another thing, it was easy on the knees. And I got to listen to music instead of howling turbines, air compressors and pumps. Better in every way, except that it bit into my very limited free time.
I had no way to compare how the elliptical effort would compare to going up and down two flights of stairs 50 times, so I just went 30 minutes even. It was pretty close, based on the heart monitor.
December 8
30 minutes elliptical, 4.1 miles
Resistance level 1, incline 12.5 degrees
Heart rate 163 - about the same as stairs
Today (December 11)
Stairs 50 sets x two flights x 2 steps at a time
28:30
158 Heart rate
Tomorrow when nobody is here, I'll try to get in a morning and afternoon set.
