I am also doing the best I can to never have to move into an assisted living facility where the food that is served will not be low carb and will not conform to all the foods I must avoid because of my food sensitivities. I am very fortunate that I have been able to figure out through my own research and self experimentation what I need to do to optimize my health. I only wish others could do the same.

Most people get the first sentence, but don't go on to your logical conclusion. Yes, I will die, but I don't need to be in poor health & pain for years because of preventable diabetes complications. I have a horror of nursing homes (I hate visiting people there - it makes me cry.) I've told the kids that I'll die first before being sent to a nursing home. But then, if my brain isn't working properly, maybe I won't notice?

I am TOTALLY motivated in similar ways.

Aside from the food, I didn't like kindergarten the first time.

Our drives are often stronger than our intellect.

At least it seems that way for most people.

As a parent, I discovered I needed to help the children learn to recognize, accept, and understand their emotions. So many people, confronted with a foolish act, think their emotions about it is a viable excuse.

It's not.

I don't remember where I read this, and it's probably a paraphrase:

Knowing the results of ones actions tends to determines the level of ones intelligence.

I believe it was a novel where an applicant to an intelligent society was asked to put a cue ball in his mouth. When he couldn't remove it without going to the emergency room, that was the response.

'nuff said.
