Default Zevia Soda

Sooo, just wondering how we all feel about Zevia Soda. I'm open to all points of view.

Do any of you drink it? Sometimes? daily?

The thing I don't understand is, how can it be a zero calorie drink AND have 4 grams of carbs?

Thx,
Jammie

it is because they claim those carbs are not absorbed by body.

I like the product, but it is kind of $$$
I drink it sometimes- mainly if i run out of regular diet soda (I only hit big grocery once per week, but i live right next to a whole foods, which is convenient to dash into).

I think sugar alcohols are counted in carbs, even if they're not absorbed. For instance, erythritol is only absorbed at .2 calories per gram, but it would probably still be included as 1 gram of carb on a label. It is just the nature of the labeling laws.

thanks for replying, Nancy and Robin.

...So, would you consider the carb count in daily numbers, or no?

I was drinking none, then my DH bought some new flavors and I really like them... not enough to waste 4 g of carbs on them, though!

Thanks so much!

A friend of mine loved it but after drinking two a day for a while, she developed a bad rash on her arms and legs. Turns out that the sweetener in Zevia is stevia which the plant is distantly related to Ragweed, of which she had severe allergies to! After staying off it a few days the rash went away. Something to think about if allergies are an issue for you.

That said, I've never drank it myself, so cant testify to the taste or weight side effects. I don't drink any sweetened sodas anymore period. Been drinking club soda for years.

She does too - pollen, ragweed, grass etc. - severe seasonal allergies. Though she was drinking 2-3 per day for a month or so before this started, so not sure if one occasionally might/ would affect someone - even with severe allergies. YMMV but just in case some strange symptoms appear after drinking it.
