Default Cold Turkey Day 2 and it's Hard!!!

Went to the doctor yesterday on day 19 of Induction to have my pre-weight loss blood tests done. She said that my blood pressure was up. On the way home I decided impulsively to throw my cigarettes out and I did. Now it's the end of day 2 and I'm still smoke free!!!

Went out last night with friends and everybody was smoking. Didn't drink alcohol because of new WOE so that helped me not to give in and smoke.

Today is a very emotionally draining day for me. Every time I get an upsetting phone call I want to light up. Amazing what a crutch cigarettes are!

Don't go to bars that allow smoking! That was always how I went back to smoking.

Anyway, keep up the great work. It gets easier! I knew the physical withdrawals lasted about 3 days and if I could get past that, I was fine.

I quit smoking thirteen years ago. One thing that helped immensely--I read about it somewhere--was cutting straws to cigarette lengths and sucking on those whenever I had the urge, since the physical behavior is soothing. It really did help. Good luck!

Thank you so much everybody! Your input is very helpful.

Please...please...please keep the advice coming. The first few days on Induction were a walk in the park compared to this Still hanging in there somehow.

" Don't go to bars that allow smoking! That was always how I went back to smoking."

Kind of off topic, but does the US have bars that allow smoking?
Thanks.

Thank you so much for that link. It's helping me a lot. Not only because it's great to hear how rapidly your body starts recovering from some of the damage that smoking does, but also because it tells you what to expect in the next weeks with regards to cravings and irritability.

I must say, at the moment my irritability is quite high. Trying my best not to drive everybody in the house crazy. Day 3

OK it's Day 4 and I'm still smoke free. I can hardly believe it. I don't want to tempt fate but it does seem to be a little bit easier today. I guess there will be up and down days. Just taking it a day at a time for now.
