Default hello, new and everyone thinks I am crazy...

Hello!!

I have been lurking around on the board for a few days now and decided to post finally. Everyone I know thinks I must be off my rocker to be eating the way I have been, but I had an experience the yesterday and I wanted to see I anyone had the same. After many years of thinking something is really, really wrong with me, I admitted to myself I have a problem with cronic anxiety. I went on a low carb diet to hopefully lose maybe 10 pounds or so just because I wanted to lose them before the holidays (or permenantly would be nice too!) but after a few days of being on the carb. addicts plan, I noticed my depression and anxiety seem to lift considerably. Then yesterday I got the bright Idea to eat doughnuts. About an hour or so after that, I felt that old familar tense, snapping at people, angry, neck tight, hyperviligent, could not sit still, feeling. This lasted until lunch time (I was at work) I ate a low carb lunch and it seem to go away some, but left me with one terrible headache.

I think it was the carbs, everyone else thinks I lost my mind. (LOL) I have always been health food nut and thought food effects alot in ones life. I was just wondering if anyone else ever had a simular experience or if I am going crazy. (LOL) Thanks in advance for any advice or comments.

Hi Kat,

nice to meet you, Im only new here myself, but I do agree that food has a direct effect on your state of mind. I know the first few days I was on CAD I felt sorta floaty and headachy but now I feel great , actually way too great for someone who is supposed to be on a weight loss diet *giggle* . Ive never felt so satisfied in all my life.

We may all be crazy, but isnt it fun!

Mood swings aren't as big an issue with me as are the shakes etc..if I eat too many carbs. You are what you eat, so much truth to that.

It's not in your head. I refer to it as a carb hangover: upset tummy, headache, achey body, tired, and shakey. It lasts for one to two days for me. As little as a half cup of ice cream can do it to me. It's not fun and a motivator to stay away from the bad carbs and stick to the good ones.

Thank you for your kind words of support. there had to be something to it and now that I have been one day back on track I feel worlds differently, and yep, it does make on want to say on track.

Yes, if feeling this good is crazy, then i will have to be considered crazy. He-He-He. LOL.

Default You are definately not alone!

You got it..... the carbs...or maybe more directly the sugar does effect mood and boughts of depression. I know that I have felt more up's in my life since I began low carbing........ more thoughts of what I can work and achieve instead of thinking that I am not capable, would be too hard..... negative, depressive attitude, from blood sugar being unstable, and it having probably dropped. I sleep so much better, I hardly ever have headaches anymore (only if I eat too much salt and don't drink enough water) no more acid indigestion........ Yes, your attitude does change in a positive manner when you eat low carb, when you eat healthy for your body...... just look at what happens when you talk to another low carber about this eating lifestyle........ they light up! brighten up! with telling how great they feel! *S* I get talking to people about it....... and they not only compliment me on the huge amount of weight I have lost........ but on how beautiful I really am, I think that the benifits of low carbing can make you shine!!!!! ~Jade~

No, you're not crazy at all! I know I've only been at this for the past few days, but what you said made me remember something that happened a long time ago.

About 20 years ago I was on a diet where I ultimately lost about 40 pounds. I had started in late spring or early summer, and over the course of the next few months had shed the weight. As the holidays approached, candies and all kinds of goodies started rolling into the office. Well, what I had been eating was at least partly sensible in that my carbs were limited to no more than 60 grams a day, roughly, and the rest of my diet was some veggies and protein (although it really wasn't enough, because I was also on diet pills to control my appetite).

Anyway, one day at work I had partook of quite a few of those nummy morsels, and it just so happened it was on a day when I needed to stay late to do some filing. I remember how, after everyone was gone, this sudden rage came over me. It was horrible! I just wanted to slam the files down and tear the whole building to shreds! I knew then it was the candy, but over the years forgot as more and more carbs were introduced back into my diet.

Thanks for the reminder!
