Question Anyone else not exercising due to no time?

Ok I know there is not excuse for not exercising, accordinig to my Dr., but, like I told him I have 2 kids, 2 dogs, and a husband (3rd kid really) LOL. Anyway it is almost impossible to get some exercise in except occasionally on weekends. I have been LC since June 2003. I have lost a total of 88 lbs in 1 year. 36.5 on Atkins since June. I have been stalled for a couple of months though. I am taking full responsibility for that though. Not enough water, LC ice cream, etc. But it's the exercising I cannot seem to squeeze in. Anyone else having the same problem?

Tracy

I used to have the same problem! But I made a vow to make time so I get up and walk 2 mile at 6 AM every morning before work! I feel good all day!

This works for me...I work 8-5...but I am single with no kids!

I have 2 kids, 1 dog, 1 husband and work full time. I go the gym at 5:30 am before anyone wakes up. It's tough but I really think it's worth it! I actually have more energy than when I got more sleep.

Congrats on your losses! Maybe you're stalled because you're getting close to your goal? I've read that the last pounds are the hardest to lose.

patti,

Thanks! My sister always calls me a witch because I lost so much. My answer to her is "Hey I worked hard on this". That usually shuts her up quick..LOL. I also work full time, I forgot to mention. My Dr. says its like having 2 jobs. So true... My DH bought a Bowflex about a year ago and it's gathering dust. I think I am going to start working out on that during the weekend. I wonder if it will make a difference, only 2 times a week?

This became the same for me when trying to make a set time to exercise. So what I did was tell myself 3 times a day I needed to do 100 arobic step sessions, comes with the arm bands also. After a week or so I was up to 600 a day.

I am a SAHM with a 3 year old a 2 year old and a husband that works 6 to 6 mon- fri and 8 hours on Sat. It's hard for me to get to the gym but I try and get there 2 times a week. When I am at home I use an exercise ball and walk on the tread mill after the kids go to bed. It's hard when mommys always come last..

Good Luck,
Kat

I am a stay at home mother of 3 kids ages 10, 8 and 2. I know all about no time!! My husband works from 6am-6pm each day. I get up at 5:30 (so I'm home by the time he leaves for work) and run 3-5 miles every day. It totally sucks at first - I KNOW its early, but your body gets used to it. Believe me! walk, run, hop, skip with your kids.... any little bit counts.

I am with Leslew on this. I made the same excuses you are now. My life was too hectic to exercise... I didn't have time to hit the gym at work for 30 minutes a day... It was not kids holding me back it was my job it kept me so busy I felt I could not possibly find time to exercise..

Then I made the decision to stop hitting the snooze button 4-5 times in the morning and get up and go walking first thing.

Now I get up at 5:00AM and stumble out of the house 2-3 minutes later and walk till 6:00AM. The nice thing is I don't really wake up until about 1/2 through it and then I am wide awake and full of energy all day.

I typically go to bed at 10:30 - 11:00... and I don't even miss the sleep.

I have 7 children under 14 (youngest just turned 4). I just make time to excerise. I get up at 5.30 am, make lunches then walk for 2 miles on the treadmill. It kills me some mornings but I always feel better afterwards.

The people I know who exercise regularly are just as busy as those who don't. The difference is that one group makes exercise a priority and the other group doesn't. Time spent exercising is weird -- because you seem to "get it back" by increased energy.

I'd be cautious about using the BowFlex back-to-back days on weekends, might put yourself at risk for muscle injury -- unless you work completely different muscle groups. Good luck.

I just recently started exercising. Although I have been very successful with just LCing, I've started to slow down and would like to see myself toned. I make time for exercising at night while we are all watching our sitcoms. 30 minutes is just about the right amount of time to ride my bike while I'm still technically spending time with my family.

I work full time and even though i'm 1/2 of a DINK I never seem to get going in the evening. I use my hour at lunch to go for a walk and try to get in 5000 steps. The city I live in has covered walkways between buildings and so far I've gone out 3 x this week. Every step helps.

I am an engineer that supports a production department that starts work at 6:18 a.m. I get up at 4:15 every morning and make it a point (4 - 5 days a week) to do aerobics or ride the exercise bike before going to work. Yeah it takes time, but I feel better on the days that I dont hit the snooze button. Also I get home by 4 p.m. every day to be home when my son gets off the school bus, so going to the gym right after work isnt really an option until he's a little older, or DW can get home in time as well.

I do exercise quite a lot -- an hour of weights or cardio six days a week -- and I physically feel better for it, but I won't pretend it doesn't take a huge chunk of time out of my day. By the time I change into gym clothes, make and drink a protein shake, drive to the gym, work out, and drive home, it's two hours a day, six days of week. That's more time than I spend on any other single activity besides working and sleeping. I make the time, but I can understand why someone else who lives on a schedule like mine might choose other priorities.

mom2e&r...........
I started using our bowflex last year, 5 lb weights and only 15 minutes a day.(5 days) I saw good results in 2 weeks. Of course the weights get heavier as time goes on.
