I'm back. I did the Atkins way of life about 4 years ago and absolutely loved it. I lost 45 pounds and felt better than I'd ever felt.
Then I had to have some pretty serious surgery and the Dr.'s just flipped out when they found out I was doing Atkins. After a Lot of pressure I quit, had my surgery and then did not get back into Atkins until now.
Incidentally it did take a year to put the weight back on.
So I put it back on and more. so I'm back and this time my daughter is with me.
We both need to loose 50 pounds and hopefully this will be permanent for me.

Welcome back! I'm sorry you had such negative doctors. Glad that you're okay now, and it's great that your DD will be doing lc with you.

I have different Dr.'s now and they still do not like Atkins.
We started a week ago, fumbling our way into it until I found the books and the carb counter. Then yesterday was my daughter's birthday and we both had a big piece of very decadent birthday cake and when I weighed in this morning I have lost 10 pounds since starting a week ago. Yea Team!

i hear ya! had some doctor pressure last year and went off...

now I'm armed with more research, a new doctor who told me that it was the only way i could lose weight, and success enough to ignore my doctor who doesn't like it. In fact, now I'm lighter than her! man, that's fun.

Glad you're back! Won't take you long to get those pounds off.

I don't understand what doctors don't like about it. I mean all we are eating is meat, fish, poultry, healthy fats, a few dairy products, vegetables and eventually fruits and nuts and seeds.
It is a natural diet and I am sure they would rather want us eating those foods as opposed to cookies, cake, donuts, chips, sugar, etc, etc, etc.

The thing is that I really do like the Dr that I have now and he has made me feel comfortable enough that we can disagree and I can continue to see him and discuss Atkins with him. He is very open minded and not only listens, but he shares his opinions and reasons why he feels that way.
We have some great discussions.
