So nice to see the results that people are getting!

It's very humid and going up to 90 today, so, of course, I'm up a bit with edema. But the new shorts are still fitting, and they are my current benchmark. So the edema is pretty much just in the hands and the calves.

Yesterday was going in the right direction, even after a weeding session that my lower back didn't love.

60/rest/35.

I added 10 seconds to my front plank and 5 seconds to my side planks. I was pretty shaky with the extra time but I powered through it.

I love NSV, especially the ever-growing pile of clothes in the "donate" pile. This leads to another NSV - enjoying shopping!

Happy Hump Day Plank People!

Next set will be Friday!

Happy Plankin'!

Had a personal best yesterday: 60/rest/50. We had a terrible storm last night. Must have been energized from all the ozone.

Greetings, Plankers! I've continued doing the planks on my regular workout days instead of on the off days. For now that works better mentally. Today:

front/forearm/toes: 2:45 (Michelle Obama, here I come!)
side/feet/straight arm: 30 sec. (new challenge--really tough! very shaky arm)
side/knee/forearm: 1 min.

I'm sure we big-butt gals have an extra challenge with planks. All that weight in the hips really changes the dynamics of this position. I think we deserve extra credit.

Keep Calm and Plank On

You are all so inspiring!

I did my 70 front, 35 sides plus modified push-ups and some Pilates and T-Tapp abs work.

I'm also dry skin brushing and working on my balance. After my car accidents over the years, my balance is slightly off kilter (hearing loss due to concussion = imperfect balance). Pilates helps with focus while I am balancing so it's good to be starting it up again.

Keep on Planking!

Yesterday was a bust. Somehow I managed to set my timer for 1:01, and when I glanced at it and saw over an hour left! I got all flustered. Flopped, and gave up.

42 seconds.

I'll do better today. And watch to make sure it says a minute. Not an hour and a minute!

That's very funny..... only because I've done it too. Now I stick to using the second hand on my watch. It also diverts my attention from what I am doing by requiring math

A one HOUR plank would probably be a Guinness World Record!

At my age, I'd probably get the Congressional Medal of Honor or something!

Default My Journey to doing 3 min Planks cont'd...

TGIF Plankin' Peeps!

I hope you all don't mind me loggin' in my planks like this. If you do, lemme know and I shan't do it again. But I like to see the entire "practice makes progress" bit...

These are standard (forearm/toe) Planks:

June 17: 45s x 3 (20s rest in btw)
June 18: 45s x 3 ((20s rest in btw)
June 20: 45s x 4 (20s rest in btw)
June 22: 30s x 4 (15s rest in btw)
June 24: 30s x 4 (15s rest in btw)
June 26: 30s x 4 (15s rest in btw)
June 28*: 1m, 20s rest & 45s
June 30: 1m, 20s rest & 1m
July 2: 1m, 20s rest & 45s
July 4: 1.5m, 20s rest & 45s
July 6: 1m 45s, 20s rest & 45s
July 8: 2m, 20s rest & 46s ~ Another new time!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
*MickiSue suggested holding the 1st plank as long as possible, rest and do another one. So that’s what I started doing as of 28 June.
And you'd so richly deserve it for sure, girlie!
Seriously, what's the record for the longest held plank? (I guess I could google that if I really want to know, eh?)
BTW, you ain't the only one that set the alarm that way....now I use the stopwatch on my phone instead of the alarm...
HOLY MOLY! You won't believe this, Ladies: http://www.muscleandfitness.com/ath...ew-plank-record
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, I got back to 60/rest/50. Good enough for me.
HOLY MOLY is right!!! I wonder where his mind went while his body was working on this feat??
Me? A feat of my own! On my own two...oh, never mind.
Planks today:
Front/Forearm/feet: 3 minutes!
Side/forearm/feet: 30 sec x 2... rest... 30 sec x 2 (these things are hard!)
Next week, Imma gonna do something different. Instead of one long front plank, I'm going to do a series of shorter duration, as some of you are already doing. I'm betting this builds strength and endurance equally well, with perhaps even faster gains. It might help mitigate the "dread factor" too.
I don't have to tell any of you that this plank challenge is MENTAL as well as physical. You know the saying: "Whether you say you can or you can't, you're right." Most of us remember the children's story about the Little Engine That Could. That lesson sticks, right? "I think I can...I think I can...I think I can....!"
Go for it.
