Default PCOS - normal weight range

HI Ladies,

I recently found out I have PCOS which explains my AF only turning up every 3 months.

I am in the normal weight range (upper end though since coming off the pill).

Has anyone had any success with low carb diets and falling pregnant? If so, how long after the new diet did you conceive?

Thanks for your help

P.

Have you been prescribed glucophage? That tends to enhance fertility in those of us with PCOS.

HI Debi,

When I saw the doc he prescribed Clomid which I haven't been able to start as AF has not shown up since the doc app.
I asked the doc if I should stay away from carbs and he didn't seem to think I needed to.
After doing a bit of research and reading threads on here, I sense that many pocs girls have had success loosing weight with low carb and bringing back regular cycles.
Just wondering if success with conception then followed after going low carb.
P

After a year without my TOM, my AF returned after only two weeks on a low carb diet. I was 29 at the time.

Hi ladies!!!

I have PCOS too...I have been on Atkins for almost 3 years ( the 4th of june is my third Atkinsversay), I have lost a lot of weight while low carbing...I have been taking glucophagen and yasmin and My PCOS symptoms have improved a lot!!!

but I want to stop yasmin because I can't continue dealing with the terrible sides ( depression, anxiety, sensitiveness, low sex drive..) I don't want to continue with birth pills, I want to try the cooper T method which doesnt have hormones...my question is: what happen if I stop taking birth pill? will I gain weight even though I still on Atkins and taking Glucophangen?

Thanks in advance for your response!!!

I had been on and off the pill over about a decade. I actually gained weight while on the pill while in my late teens and early twenties and lost it after going off of it. Most recently, my OBGYN had me on Yaz, but I had the horrible side effects that you are talking about, anyve. So, I went off of it. It was only a few months, so I can't say it changed my weight at all. I've been off pills for over a year and a half. I was able to lose weight and didn't gain any after going off of them permanently.
I've always had a regular cycle even though I have PCOS (confirmed when I had surgery for endometriosis). So I can't say anything about fertility and low carb, though.

BC pills always made me gain weight. 15-25 pounds each time.

Depo cost me 40 pounds, no sex drive and a *very* screwed up endocrine system.
