Hooray!



I was so disappointed when my local Loblaws Superstore (a.k.a Real Canadian Superstore) and NoFrills stopped carrying this last fall. After checking the presidentschoice.ca website, it became apparent that this item had been discontinued in favour of a low-sodium ketchup (loaded with sugar). Eeeew . I sent them an email to protest, as well as adding my opinion to the product page. Apparently they were flooded with requests to bring it back

Don't know if it's just seasonal, ie. summer and bbq season .. or if it's permanent. I noticed the price is higher ... used to be $2.49 for 750ml bottle now it's $3.69 . Oh well .. this low-carb ketchup is delicious .. only 1g carb and 5 calories per Tbsp/15 ml. I use it not just as ketchup, but also in recipes for bbq sauce, meatloaf etc etc ...

Oh good to know! I am not a ketchup fiend, but miss it in meatloaf!!!

Thanks Doreen, I don't normally shop in stores that carry PC brand so i wouldn't have noticed. I'll put Superstore back on my rotation. Bummer about the price increase!

I have a hunch that it will be cheaper with upcoming "PC Insider's Report" for May 24 weekend and/or Canada Day, July 1.
The bottle I bought today has expiry date = August 2013. Hmmmmmmm ... maybe buy a bottle or 2 now, then wait for a sale to stock up

Haven't seen it my local store, but I'm going to ask the manager.

I noticed this ketchup was getting harder to find - was down to just one place in my area. I do think its pretty good for being a sucralose version. Sure glad its coming back.

As for that Low Sodium one - I about had a heart attack at the checkout when I saw thats what I had grabbed. I ran back to the aisle and the low sodium and sucralose one look EXACTLY the same except the words "low sodium" and were on the same shelf right next to one another. So pay attention when you grab it!

Hmmm...the superstore here never stopped stocking the sucralose ketchup (thank goodness!). I use it to make cola chicken
