Just like clockwork I have a cold. Seems to always hit me when I get strict and stick to induction level carbs. Some of you may remember I was sick several times last year. It always makes it harder for me to stick to plan but DH made me a lower carb version of chicken “tortilla” soup loaded with chicken for dinner last night. It was so good and kept me on plan. It may be coincidence, but I think it has to do with how dehydrated I get that makes me more vulnerable. Plus my vit D levels are pretty low. I sure hope I don’t have another season like the last two. I’ll be taking supplements like crazy from now on.

Heidi - I hear you on the like button.

Hope everyone else is doing well.

Kit, maybe an electrolyte drink like Powerade Zero would help too. Hope you feel better soon, that soup sounds yummy, What a good hubby!

I agree, we need a like button! Heidi and Kit you are both doing great!

I messed up. Went to lunch at work on Wed and we decided on the fly where to go. Ended up going to a Thai place. I should have asked the server to recommend something similar to a stir fry, and ordered it w/o noodles or rice. Instead, I got chicken pad thai. Bad, bad, bad. All noodles! Got to climb out of this carby hole without messing up again. I ate mostly clean yesterday, with the exception of the dried cherries on my salad at lunch. Had a plain burger with cheese on it for dinner.

I have an egg and meat day planned today. Month end is already here and it is also quarter end.

I have to have an endometrial biopsy on Tuesday. I've had this kind of biopsy previously and it was quite painful, during and after. Getting pretty nervous about it.

Happy Friday!

Its the county Fair Day in our area so no school today There is a parade downtown and the kids all get in free today. This is my resting holiday. It always happens the first few weeks and a very good break to just settle back and catch up on work and sleep.

I'm working hard and its taking its toll. I'm exhausted. Its ALOT of work to do what I am doing, the way I know its best. I can't wait for it to settle down a little bit. I do enjoy it all but its just ALOT.

I have special education resource kids and inclusion in my classes. In my first class, 5 students are identified as Special Education Students. They are on a 4th grade level (I teach 5th) and a sped teacher comes in to help with them 4 days a week. (She is quite pleasant to work with too!). My other class has 7 students identified as special education students. Each of them are on a Kinder, 1st or 2nd grade level. Three of those are identified as ID (Intellectually Disadvantaged a.k.a. what we used to call Mentally Intellectually disabled). These 7 kids are taken out for 45 minutes to learn with a sped teacher. These sweet kids have been expected to sit in lessons for 5th graders . FINALLY, the sped teacher go some paperwork that she can work with them on their levels. Now she is doing the grading and such and sending it all to me. BUT, only for math. They are still expected to learn Science and Social studies at 5th grade. We take a state test this year in Science (as well as math and reading). My heart breaks for them.

Thanks so much
The issue with my band started it.
But I'm just working and eating right. I have less time to eat. Being busy helps. And my coworkers are kind and that makes up a lot! My boss respects me and my knowledge and experience. That means even more. These are the thinks that I was lacking at my old school. Its amazing how connected I am to emotions with my eating.

Nice to see several posts this morning!

Heidi - I have been drinking electrolytes. I discovered Propel electrolyte water (different from their vitamin water) and I like it much better than Power-Aide zero. It isn’t as strongly flavored and I like that it’s clear. I’ve been having at least a cup a day of it the last few days. I should probably drink more but Ive been sparing my one bottle.

Sosumi - Great job posting and getting right back to low carb. I love the pad Thai noodles at our local Thai restaurant but I’ll just have to keep them in my memory. Sorry you have to go through the biopsy. The anticipation of pain is never fun. Try to focus on Wednesday when it will all be over. Can you take Motrin before you go in? I find that helps a bit for certain procedures.

Ang - so glad you’re happy with your work life right now. And it’s great that being busy is keeping you eating right.

I’ve been sticking to plan but I do take a shot of NyQuil every night to help me sleep while I’m sick. It really does the trick but it contains high fructose corn syrup!! Oh well, as long as I stick to plan I should be OK in the long run.

Kit, Heidi, and Ang - you are all doing wonderful this month!

CaCO - are you back home? How is your mom?

Feeling better today. That pad thai set me back a few days, won't make that mistake again, although, my weight wasn't going anywhere anyway!

I will take Motrin before the procedure, but since i've had this before, I know that it (Motrin) didn't do much for me. The last time I had this I was given some Rx pain reliever and some kind of Rx relaxant (might have been Valium) prior to the procedure, and that didn't do anything for me either.

My husband is coming with me this time and will be holding my hand during the procedure. It has been scientifically proven that a woman's anxiety and pain level is lessened when she is holding her husband's hand.
