Default HELP!:Fluctuating TSH levels anyone??????

I've been hypo since about 1996. It seems to me that my TSH levels have been changing at least once a year since then, up down and all around. I've been on .300 down to .275, .250, I'm at .200 and have been for at least 2 years in Jan my TSH was 2.82. I just had it checked and now it's 4.72! MY DIET HAS NOT CHANGED IN OVER A YEAR??! I take NOTHING WITH MY SYNTHROID, like allways. I know vitamins and certain foods can change your levels. Does anyone else out there have this problem, or know why I'm having it. Help please!

Additonal info: Jan free t4=1.5, now my free t4=1.6 not a huge change there...hmm what gives?

Thanks,

Mike

Your thyroid could be continuing to shut down. I think that happens-you might have to adjust your dosage as you age.

Hi Mike,

My TSH levels were 0.03 last year, and went up to 2.64 in June. I had been taking 175mcg of thyroxine and this was increased to 200 mcg daily. I had my TSH tested again a couple of weeks ago, and they are now 0.01!! I am now being over-treated, and have gone back to 175mcg a day. My doc is now trying to work out if the test in June was a glitch in the testing system, or whether I just went haywire for some reason.

If you have Hashi's, fluctuating antibodies levels can change the TSH. Anything from stress to iodine in your food can change antibody levels, that is why it is important to keep testing often.
