Default A & W burgers

Just thought that you would like to see my response from A & W

Thank you for your question. We are about to test a low carb options of all our current burgers. If the test is successful, we will launch it nationally so you will see it in the GTA.

A & W are about the only fast food burger I'll eat, and I have had no problem getting them to just put everything on the plate for me even teh bacon and eggers, been doing that for over a year now. But it would be nice to see it on the menu :>)

Wow, a low carb A&W burger!
I am really amazed at how there are Atkins or low-carb foods showing up in stores and restaurants. A few days ago for lunch I had an Atkins chicken wrap at Subway, it tasted great. They use soy instead of wheat or corn flour to make the wrap. Bout time!

I am usually good with cravings, but...

Does A&W have diet root beer? I need (not want) a root beer from them...

Yum...

Hi M. Yes, as far as I know, A&W has diet root beer. I think they always have. Saeway here has their own brand of diet root beer which tastes pretty good too!!

Default A & W Diet Rootbeer

I get A & W Diet Rootbeer at IGA in 2L bottles. I add a tablespoon or two of heavy cream for a pretty good tasting float.

My mother went to A&W yesterday and ordered a Mozza Burger without the bun, and they new exactly what she wanted, no questions asked. Came on a plate with lettuce and tomato on the side.

A&W diet rootbeer is the BEST!! If you're lucky enough to live near the u.s. border, they have A&W diet cream soda in 2L's too (just not at the burger shops...bummer!)

I hate to tell you this, but we got "lc burgers" at A&W here about a month ago--NO BUN, they wrap it in a lettuce leaf!!! I was soooo ticked off! I'd gone thru the drive thru and ordered 2 patties, etc, and the manager told me they were getting LC burgers soon, so I came home and emailed the head office and they responded that yes, they were getting LC burgers. Of course, I assumed this meant lc BUNS, but NO, when I went to the restaurant and asked about the buns they said there aren't any buns, just the lettuce. I emailed them back saying I thought it was quite misleading to call it a lc burger...

Sorry if I burst any bubbles...

Nicole

Hi Nicole:
I was afraid of that.
I think it's pretty gypo of Albert and Walter to jump on the low-carb bandwagon like that. I am sure a low-carb bun would cut into their profit margin. Although I think most people wouldn't mind paying an extra two-bits for a low carb bun. I guess any fast food joint or restaurant can advertise low-carb then, by pulling the carb ingredients from some of their menu items. Not cool. I guess Subway has done it right (at least with their wraps) by offering a low-carb wrap made with a soy protein tortilla. It tastes pretty good. I'm e-mailing A & W saying I'm going to boycott them in favour of Subway.

Slow but steady,
Quincy.

I don't know if I'd use the word 'boycott' but I tell ya, I haven't been back since I got burned on the bun Those A. wraps at Subway are pretty tasty! I get it filled with other stuff rather than just the chicken or turkey they offer. Fave? Steak and cheese--yum! Altho, right now they can't get the beef here (funny since it's Canadian beef, but they send it to the US to be 'processed' and can't get it back over the border ).

Watch that diet Cream Soda from the States. I brought some home and guzzled all of it one evening, and didn't get to sleep until 3AM. It turns out that there is a LOT of caffine in this soda.

I didn't know that diet A&W rootbeer was hard to get in Canada! I drink it when I want a treat (especially over ice with a tbsp. of cream in it)
