Question

okay, i have been up and down the diet highway. including the extreme (bulimia). now i know the low carb thing works because i did it a year and a half ago and lost weight FAST...but i also cut down the fat and upped my protein. well yes, i am here because i fell off the wagon. MY MAIN QUESTION IS THAT I HAVE NOTICED A LOT OF THE "LOW CARB DIETS" INCLUDES QUITE A BIT OF FAT. IS THAT WHERE I WENT WRONG THE FIRST TIME BY NOT INCLUDING ENOUGH FAT IN MY DIET?? IF SO, HOW IS HAVING ALL THAT FAT HEALTHY???

Hi,

Ok, about fat - fat is our friend! Destroy what you've heard about how eating fat makes you fat. It's a myth, plain and simple. Your body needs fat
to survive and thrive; as many fats provide a host of health benefits (not including hydrogenated fats; a dangerous processed fat invented by the
processed food companies).

Most importantly, fats make you feel full sooner and keep you less hungry longer. When you go low carb, your body feeds off fat for your energy because you're not eating as much sugar.
It's when you eat the carbs with the fat that makes you fat. But otherwise fat by itself slides right threw you.

Look at fats for appetite
suppression. Yes, fat makes you feel full! Amazing being on a "diet" and
never feeling hungry.

I am on the CALP.
Blessings....Sandra

Talking thin may be in, but fat's where it's at

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

I understand where you're coming from, but the others are right. Cutting the fat out may have been a reason for your "falling off the wagon" the last time. No satiety... dry meats, no oil on your salads. UGGHHHH! That's why all those fake "Ultra-Low-Fat" crap foods add so much sugar to kill the bland taste. Fats give staying power; you must have felt hungry all the time, and very bored with your meals. Also dry skin and hair. You need fats to keep your skin elastic and smooth.
Now, if you wish to keep an eye on the saturated animal fats, that's ok, but no need to go overboard. If you prefer, pull the skin off your chicken, trim steaks and don't overindulge in cream and cheese. But do make sure to get plenty of good unsaturated fats, and essential fatty acids from x-virgin olive oil, and cold-press flax oil. Add freshly ground flax seeds to foods and lowcarb protein shakes. Have an ounce of raw nuts - almonds, filberts or brazils are good.

happy lowcarbing ..

Doreen
