Cool

I want to start a low carb diet, but have a few questions. First of all, how many carbs should I have a day? Second, I need to lose about 50 pounds - has anyone had much success at losing this much weight on a low carb plan? Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello steff75tx,

Welcome to the board!

There is tons of useful information from Doreen in the section at the top of the page.

Any long term low carber will tell you to read one of the books before you start. It is crucial to have the right information to make informed choices.

I have lost over 50 lbs. and have another 20 to go. It will be my 2 year low carb anniversary in July. Search through the posts for ones from Tinakaye. She is an inspirational newcomer to this board and a veteran on others who has reached her goal. This is her home page.

Lol thank you Karen And you have some amazing numbers yourself!

I know that is what has made all the difference in the world for me on this woe is the support of great low carb groups and reading everything I could read about the topic and how it effects my body. Dr Atkins books and Protein Power are both excellent places to start.

Best of luck to you!
