Liddie,

I am so so sorry to hear about your loss. I can't even imagine how you must be feeling..I'm glad to hear you are attending lots of meetings and hopefully reaching out to the other women in the program near you. That is what she would want you to do I'm sure. And yes we are here for you here also..always...Hugs and prayer,

Gwen

Hello, I'm excited to see this thread. I have been sober and active in AA sine 5/11/99, but my food addiction has progressed. I want freedom in all areas and believe that the same principles that got me sober are a must if I want to be clean in all ways. I had a major relapse on food last night and I'm feeling sick about it. I could use some prayers and suggestions. God Bless and thanks much for this thread. Xoxo

Hi FannyFaye - this is a quiet site unfortunately. But you are right about the same principles can help you with food addiction! Hoping you find your path to recovery. Suggestion would be look into OA if that is something you. Keep reading other threads too. Good luck.

I'm with you, Fanny. I've been sober over eight years, but I'm still a drunk with the food off and on. Hoping some day to really get 'sober' with that too. Welcome to the thread.

I have gone to OA a few times over the years but was in total denial about this being a disease just like my brutal alcoholism. I got an OA sponceor a couple weeks ago and last night I finally went to a meeting where I totally felt like I was supposed to be there. It was awesome. They talked about the solution and that food isn't really the problem, Amen to that, life on life terms and my unwillingness to accept it is my problem. Food is the way I drown out all uncomfortable feelings, thoughts, interactions. anyway, I felt like I was home. It was super great. I need all the help I can get so I will keep comin' back to this site. Together we can do what we could never do alone. God bless your journey and thanks much for the encouragement.

Hi there,

I just found this thread, and I'm pretty happy to see so many 'friends' on here too.

I have 7 1/2 months - first time in too, and it's not been easy. I am dealing with emotions that I pretty much had put away in a box, never to be opened..... Until now. In the middle of Step 9 right now which I'm finding hard and I am also dealing with a girlfriend of mine who doesn't like the new 'me'. I'm setting boundaries so I can increase the respect I have for myself and she doesn't like it. Alot of talking to my sponsor, and it's a work in progress, but she is the only one who is being like this. Everyone else is amazed by how much nicer I am to be around generally....

I am trying too to give up smoking, I keep getting a week or two and then finding myself buying a pack.

I have read back a fair bit on this thread, and it seems to be on a go slow at the moment, but hopefully that can change as I am all for sharing and helping those who need it.

Anyway, nice to meet you all!

PG!

I am sober over 20 years, but I had to really take my time on quitting smoking after that, and I am still learning how to handle the food thing, food is harder, because alcohol and cigarettes are about complete abstinance one day at a time, but I do need to eat something sometimes, so far I do know the most addictive food stuffs that set me off, so i avoid them, but still am learning.

I have nine years of sobriety today!

Now, if I could just be sober with the food. 2013 will be my year!

Congratulations Suzanne!
I will hit 21 years in 2013, but still haven't got the food thing down.

Hi Sarah, welcome!
I haven't got the food thing down, either, but hit 21 years sober 2/20/13 and smoke free about 10 years.
