I found a lot of this information fits right into "metabolic derangement" theory, as outlined in a series of posts on Tuit Nutrition by Amy Berger.

http://www.tuitnutrition.com/search/label/Mitochondria

This is the theory that got me into deep ketosis as a way of handling my autoimmune issues. I'm 10 weeks in and seeing notable improvements in my skin, sleep, energy, and mood.

I must point out that there are career threatening constraints on doctors discussing this issue. They must still adhere to Standard of Care, and in cancer treatment, this is still shackled to the wrong theory. I think one of keto's most valuable strategies might be in forms which still have a terrible track record, like brain cancer, where it works far better than conventional treatment.

I believe that low-carbing is a good method to prevent cancer from happening by keeping the insulin level low.

Oh, YES, so do I.

We perhaps don't know the limits of ketosis when it comes to actually curing someone who is already dealing with cancer. But we know how it works with diabetes, and we're starting to know how it works with certain forms of dementia. And in both of those, low carb can prevent the disease process from starting.
