Unhappy

What to do? I'm suffering with a real nasty cold bug right now, and I'm finding it difficult to stay within my low carb guidelines. Should I just count this week as a write off and get back on track when I'm feeling better. The problem is the sore throat, which feels soooo much better if I have a neo-citron, or tea with milk and sweetener, I don't really like it black. My boyfriend bought some throat lozenges (Cepastat) which are sugar-free, sweetened with sorbitol. I do not want to eat anything at all, I would prefer to stick with just liquids. Any advice?

Unhappy sorry you're feeling sick

Hi,

Neo-citran comes in sugar-free too, for diabetics. Make sure you are drinking plenty of fluids - water, tea, diet ginger ale, etc........ and extra vitamin C wouldn't be a bad idea either. Don't go overboard and use this as an excuse to eat all kind of sugary, starchy treats. Cold bacteria and viruses LOVE sugar, and will thrive and grow if you feed them. Salty broths are good, and egg custard made with sweetener.

Hope you feel better soon,
Doreen

Smile I had no idea!

Thanks Doreen, I had no idea that cold bacteria thrives on sugar! I'm feeling better already, thank you.
