Talking Jumping back in

Hi everyone. I'm 53, happily married, father of two grown children. I'm 6-4, with just under 100 pounds to lose to get to my ideal weight.
I did Atkins, not very well, but well enough to know it works, several years ago. I started it with my wife back then, but she wasn't all that convinced and she quit when the nasty caffeine withdrawal headaches kicked it. We're both set to start it again, both for real this time. We've been gradually cutting out carbs for the past few weeks and we've both lost a few pounds. The wife is excited about it this time around because she's glimpsed that it can work for her too. We're both set to lose some serious weight. Sept. 1 is D-Day for induction.

Congrats on the decision and wishing you both complete success.

By the way, some folks find that cutting out caffeine completely isn't necessary. They've found that one cup of real coffee doesn't seem to stall things if they switch to decaf after that. Your wife might find that makes it a little easier!

Again, wishing you both complete success!

Best wishes to both of you. I agree that cold-turkey on caffeine is a bit much to handle at first. Perhaps a more gradual withdrawal could be arranged. I've never found that caffeine had much of an effect one way or the other. But everybody's different.

And speaking of different, I hope you and your wife won't get competitive about this. Women tend to lose more slowly, and it's easy to get discouraged comparing yourself to a guy.
