I'm not sure if I've added the link correctly - but could someone look at my fitday please and check what I'm eating - its getting very monotonous - the trouble is I've bought too many books and find I'm just flitting through - some of the snacks that people talk about sound good but there US so I'm not sure what the UK version is i.e. jello with cream - cheese sticks

thanks

Josie

Josie, I peaked at your fitday account (good job on starting one btw ) What first pops to mind is that there doesnt seem to be any veggies on your list. You should be getting 20g of carbs from green veggies (2 servings a day or one serving and a cup of salad). Also the calories are VERY low; low carb and low calories does not work. You need to eat more; 10 to 12 times your body weight. Try upping those totals with more fat, butter, olive oil. sardines, mayonnaise, salad dressings, skin on chicken. You'll find things taste better and your WOE is much easier to adhere to

As for the snack difference between the US and the UK, I believe Jello is Jellie (gelatin) and cheese strings are just cheese that is prepackaged into string pieces, it's generally cheddar or mozarella. I dont' buy those myself, I find it more cost effective to buy large blocks of cheese and portion them out (we do go through a lot of cheese in this house )

Yes, Josie, it is different to be told to eat more but it does work, it's necessary. check out the section under "Low Carb Tips" about Stalls and Plateaus. Undereating is a major cause of slow weight loss, so is not eating your veggies. You need them for the various nutrients they supply that you just cant get from a vitamin or supplements and for their fiber, they will keep you regular and feeling good.

Josie, go back to Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution and re-read the chapter on Induction. It should be by your side constantly if that is the plan you are following. You can never have too much information when it comes to low-carbing.

Smile Gelatine

Hi Josie

Jello is what we call Gelatine, obtainable in most supermarkets and Holland & Barratt.

Be very careful though and get the sugar free variety. It is amazing the carbs loaded in one little sachet of the other type.

I guess our equivalent of cheese sticks would be cheese slices!! Like Nat i always buy a big block (it is much cheaper the bigger you get). I restrict my cheese intake slightly as it has more carbs than indicated on the packet.

Take care.

I had a look at Josie's Fit Day and there was Broccoli & Brussel Sprouts 17g. Are these not classed as green veggies??
