Both!
While they are mostly the same, PPLP is an easier read - per my sister - and is updated. It also lays out the scientific reasons for all the recommendations the the Drs. Eades make. But PP goes right into the plan and then adds the science at the end, almost like an after thought. AND I have found a few things that are in PP that got left out of PPLP. Both are around ten dollars in soft cover. I think MY health is worth much MORE than ten dollars, what about you??
Link to PPLP bibliography. It is over 400 journal articles and was too many to post as one thread, so there are several at the bottom of this page and on the next.

I like PP/PPLP because it sets out the principles of healthy eating, you then can use these princlples to "taylor" your diet to what you can live with for the REST of your life. There are "sample diets" and even examples of the degree to which you can follow the "plan" and still have benfits.

You are welcome, Clancy.

WARNING! PPLP is so full of good information, that you should read it several times. I have read my hard copy three times, second time with a highlighter. AND yet, the third time, I read things that I missed the first two times. AND it has been so long age that I read it the last time that I need to read it again.

I am an engineer and like analogies. To me PPLP (and PP to a lesser degree) is like a tool box full of the tools needed to create a good healthy diet for just YOU! But like many tools that are complex, you have to study (use, try, examine, test, etc.) to learn how to get the most out of them. That is what makes PP/PPLP so different from other diets, even though (especially Atkins) the other low carb diets are very similar in the basics. My claim is that PPLP is like a resource that you check with as you are working on developing the most WORKABLE diet for you to use the rest of your life. If you are having some sort of problem, a stall for example, then you need to reread sections of PPLP. ALSO coming here to ask questions is important as some times other people can have a better understanding of how to fix the problem.

Good luck on your "journey" down to join me (at 140)
Larry

I've re-read all or parts of both books 5-6 times (once a year is good) and I always find something in them that strikes a new chord. For instance, the first few times I skimmed over the leaky gut chapter in PPLP because I never have had digestion problems (like Seinfeld, I can remember the last time I threw up - in 1980). But now I realize that my joint pain, asthma & cravings were all aggravated by inflammatory responses to proteins leaking out of my gut. And avoiding the problematic foods has gotten me to an ideal weight that I never thought I would be able to achieve and a complete lack of cravings.

PP may be the best one to read first since it will get you on the right track quickly. Then PPLP helps to understand why PP works and what sort of tweaking to try to make PP work even better.

That is usually what I suggest to people. But I really like your description of PPLP, especially the tweaking part.
