Same here, we let a friend come and hunt but no one else. I'm afraid some neighbors are poaching though because we found a skull from a buck with antlers still attached.

That National Geographic article overlooks that fact that while man may have eaten oats pre-agriculture, they would have been eating wild oats they gathered, so I would imagine not in large quantities. Kind of like the honey, tubers and fruit they ate.

Pretty sure a metabolically healthy person who is very active (like Paleo peoples would have been) can probably tolerate wild oats, etc. in limited quantities.

I don't think this discovery says much about the healthfulness of a Paleo diet.

lol, we have found the "offal"..... we dont allow hunting, but reserve abutts 50% of our property line.

Lots of companies have "wild" edibles for home steaders and the like. We r looking at Jerusalem artichokes, and pawpaw and quince, fiddlehead ferns , etc.

What is missing , beyond food items , is the soils and lack of herbicides and persticides They are light years ahead of us; most stuff is banned.

While picking tomatoes today, the bees are out in full force, so a little care is necessary. NO HONEYBEES, just bumble bees. And in the late afternoon, a dismal few bats feeding on mosquitoes.

My micri environment is affected by those pesticide crazy enthusiasts all arou nd the US.

Omg... that is supposed to be the BEST pork!!!

There was/is a farm in VT that carefully selects for grazing. The diggers become dinner. Has been a lonnnnnng process as hogs naturally love to root, s u know.

These are feral hogs probably from domestic many generations ago but now mixed with true wild hogs. They have huge 3 inch top and bottom tusks which cut like a knife. They can be very aggressive and I've seen youtube videos of people attacked by them with hundreds of stitches if they don't die from loss of blood first.
