Interesting... Peanut butter & dark chocolate! Two regulars with me.

4 Foods That Are Good Sources of Resveratrol 8-23-13

Here are four foods that are good sources of resveratrol:

Red Grapes: Grapes don't have to be fermented to contain this antioxidant. It's actually found in the skin of red grapes along with other nutrients, such as minerals manganese and potassium and vitamins K, C and B1.

Peanut Butter: Peanut butter is great for dressing up apples and celery, but it also contains some resveratrol (up to .13 mg per cup). Peanut butter is a great source of niacin and manganese.

Dark Chocolate: In dark chocolate, resveratrol blends nicely with other antioxidants and also minerals, such as iron, copper and manganese. Who doesn't like chocolate?

Blueberries: Blueberries don't have quite as much resveratrol as grapes, but they are also a great source of other antioxidants, dietary fiber, vitamins C and K and manganese.

Or it might not be any additives, just the red wine. An allergy to tannins in red wine is pretty common. A couple of my sisters have this problem and drinking even a glass of red wine will give them a headache. White wine doesn't cause the same problems, so it's an easy thing to test.

Also, your gluten problem might really be the mold. A friend of mine developed a severe mold allergy after he developed a severe case of mycotoxicosis from a long term mold exposure. He's recovered from that, but now reacts severely to anything with a little mold. There are mild amounts of mold in most grain silos, so most grains come with a little mold.

Centenarians often say the secret is a small drink every day. According to this, all cause mortality is reduced by optimally drinking half a can of beer every day and doesn't increase above the odds for a teetotaler until about 4 cans a day.

That half a can of beer a day... I have an aunt and uncle who drink a beer a day at 2 pm. If they're on vacation, they may have two. Small daily amounts of alcohol, never to excess, correlates in their case to a strong level of discipline. Over the last year she's switched to alcohol free. The longer small servings of alcohol are sold as healthful, probably the stronger the correlation is going to be with healthy users.

George Burns used to say, when he started smoking, it was good for you.
