Any repeated weight loss can result in more difficulties the following attempts. It is the nature of the body designed to survive famine.

IMHO metabolism only slows down IF our body losses muscle mass and when it is not exercised regularly.

Atkins is a calorie restriction diet, because as the appetitie drops the intake also drops. Just not phrased as " calorie restriction" .

Your body my also be more sensitive to some types of carbs than others.

For me,, I cannot drop weight on ANY other diet. Low carb is the ONLY diet that works for me. After many restarts, dropped from 235 to 219 in 3 weeks of NO cheating. Definitely added fried fat as meals. And got off the couch a bit more.

GOod luck--- keep trying!

I'd ditch the ranch dressing and do olive oil and red wine vinegar and ditch the protein shake and eat real food instead.
