Has anyone tried the Insanity workout series? It is made by Beach Body same as P90X however this one is lead by Shuan T. Just wanted to hear about other peoples experience with it and if they felt they benefited from it.
Hi, I did P90X for several years and one of my friends just bought the Insanity. It looks interesting. Personally I have changed my focus to simpler muscle building (not bodybuilding) routines.
I think the P90X/Insanity style workouts are so long and grueling that they are not conducive to gaining muscle. I think people can get great physiques with three weight training sessions a week, clean diet, and very little cardio. Using intense routines that go five or six days a week for 45 min or so is not sustainable and eats into the bodies recovery process.
Plan: Atkins

I have the insanity work out. it will make you cry. Every time I did one of the work outs I tweaked my back. This is just explosive movements and lots I MEAN LOTS of cardio. I was doing a boot camp for about 4 weeks before doing this, HIIT. it is hard I'm sure it would work but i will tell you this.....I will wait until I reach under 140 and have had some more weight training and endurance under my belt before I even attempt the videos again. it's not that i was sore ( I was) but the fact that Someone actually thought about producing something like this to sell to the general public, that's what was insane. I bet you he has made a mint off of these things. i would wait or try ebay I'm sure you will find them on there way cheaper. trust me people probably wanted to sell these after completing 3 dvds.
okay stepping off my soap box.
My girlfriend and I have been doing it for over 4 weeks...We are only doing 5 days a week and not six. It is very Insane! The only thing we can keep up on at their pace is the warm up- which is a workout in itself...lol...
I agree there is a ton of cardio- and despite my short comings with the video- I am feeling much stronger. I started doing push ups on my knees and now I can do them just like a boy. Also it has helped me in keeping up with my kids. My son wanted to race me across the corn field- which normally he kills me every time- now I can stay on his heels. Which is pretty exciting.
I think the video was made for those already in shape and wanted the extra challenge. Also I am very disappointed that I have not dropped the weight with it. I would think the pool of sweat I leave behind would at least be a pound or two.
We are going to switch it up a bit. Throw in some Turbo Jam or something.
Just got my dvds yesterday and i will start today. I watched the first one yesterday and looks intense! I have been doing turbofire for about a month in a half and iam prolly going to workout a hybrid of both.
