Default Where can I buy pH test strips?

I went to the pharmacy to get some and they suggested I go to a pet store to buy the ones used for aquariums. I did get a bottle of 25 at Petland, but that seems so pricey to me. Any ideas of a cheaper source?

hi Carol,

You can buy pH testing papers quite cheaply at a shop that sells wine-making and home-brewing supplies. They come either as pre-cut strips, or on a roll like scotch tape where you just tear off what you need.

Make sure it says "universal pH" or check to see that the pH range is 2.0 to 10. Special papers designed just for beer or just for wine will have narrow ranges, and very acidic at that

hth,

Doreen

Carol -

If you are using the ones you got at the pet store, you may want to try : www.thatpetplace.com , they normally have items much cheaper than the regular pet stores. Just a thought.....

Good luck!

Good idea Leah. I didn't think of that. My daughter lives about 5 min. from That Pet Place. I've been there several times. Awesome store! I'll check their web site. I think I also have their catalog somewhere here. My DH has a pond and we love to go there for supplies.

I saw Metabo Thinz or something similar in name at Wal Mart last week. I was surprised to see them there, and they also had quite an impressive section of vitamins, bars and shakes. The strips were $11.00 a box, not sure how many were in it though. It was the section over by the pharmacy with all the slim fast junk.
