Does anyone have an opinion regarding food choices during a period of stomach upset/diarrhea? The conventional wisdom is the BRAT diet...once you're up to eating again, eat bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast. Ummm...I don't eat any of those things! At any rate, my stomach is upset, I've had diarrhea, and I'm just not eating right now (no appetite). Eventually though I'll want to eat. Any thoughts on good LC ways to ease back into eating? Many thanks.

I'd go for eggs and broth. Egg drop soup would be a good choice.

What monster recommends eating gluten when you have diarrhea and nausea?

It really makes you wonder where "conventional wisdom" comes from anyway. My SIL (a dietician) has been telling me for years that eating bread is GOOD for me, because people SHOULD eat a lot of bread. WTF? She'd die if she knew I was LC-ing. I just don't tell anyone.

I could have written this post.
I'm in the recovering stages of a nasty little Noro virus from my cruise vacation.

I usually stay away from soy with a 10-foot pole, but my staple is miso soup.
Miso (which is fermented) is very restorative with a tiny amount of tofu. Sugar free jello.
Diet ginger ale.
Keifer to help replace your gut bacteria.

Progress not perfection.

I'm dealing with an upset tummy today & the only thing that sounds appealing is some cinnamon toast..so came looking for some advice to this same exact question. Thank for the helpful info...

When I have had diarrhea Ive avoided eating again until Im very hungry and then just eaten what I usually eat. Meat, eggs, fish and vegetables. Bone broths (as mentioned above) are good to help replace some of the minerals lost through diarrhea.
