Default supplement skepticism

since this issue (how skeptical should we be about various claims made about all these supplements Atkins and others recommend) has been coming up a lot here this past week (and it's always somewhere in the back of my mind), I thought I'd post a new thread about it. I'm sure we've dealt with it before, too, and someone with more time this week could do a search and give the links to the best past conversations about the topic, perhaps.

Starting to do some research on line, I got some good hits searching internet for "supplements skeptical claims"--I'll fiddle with this some more next week when work calms down for me.

Quackwatch.com

Supplementwatch.com

Healthwell.com .. science-based information, and will state if research doesn't support the claims

Note that hcrc and quackwatch websites, while possibly informative , they are not science based, but politically based. If the government said something, and research said something else, they'll go with the government. (including their views on low-carb) IMHO

Thumbs up

My thoughts exactly. However, for the sake of skeptical views, it's worth a look.
