Not to mention the loss of personnel who advance and are highly trained who are forced out because of weight and / or physical fitness issues. A KD could fix that.

My dad was AF and I remember the days of eating SOS - and like many of you, mom used pre-packaged chipped beef.

I wonder how ground beef / heavy cream over cauliflower would be?

Oh, the days of shopping at the Commissary on base...all the casseroles, and dishes made with tons of rice / pasta.

One statistic jumps out: 7 out of 10 potential recruits are rejected for being overweight. Wow. I guess not surprising in the American population today.

This study was mildly criticized because it was not "randomized." Fair enough for scientific standards. But when it comes to how people eat, personal preference is surely an important motivation.

Along those lines, I've never quite believed that in the 1990s Women's Health Initiative, almost 20,000 women (out of the 50,000 in the study) faithfully sustained an "undereating" diet for eight years. Did they lie? Well, maybe not consciously. But I suspect some, uh, fudging.

Military personnel have more to lose! Butter and bacon beat carrot sticks every time in my opinion.
