It's summer. I want my fresh fruit!! I can't loose on Atkins unless I do Induction level. Is there any semi LC diet that I could do that includes plenty of fresh fruit? Other than that, the LC WOE is great for me. Been doing it for 5 years. Just haven't been able to loose lately & if I'm not going to loose anyway, then I want my fruit!
When I began Atkins induction, I did it incorrectly. I added fruit such as berries and cantalope but I continued keeping my carbs under 20 grams.I had some nights where I wanted dessert so I had a small dish of berries with homemade whipped cream. Honestly, I did not know that it was not allowed. However, I did lose weight.
I know what you mean. Summer is fresh fruit time and I love fruit. I try to keep my carbs under 30 day and allow fruits that don't allow me to go over my level. Right now strawberries are in and I have eaten some but I don't pig out.
My problem is going to be with fresh cherries. Oh how I love them!! Moderation counts!
I have always eaten fruit throughout most of my weightloss. Now, I typically eat one fruit per day such as a serving of blackberries, an apple, or nectarine.
Protein Power LifePlan does not restrict any particular food. YOu're just allowed only 10 grams of carbs per meal (4 meals in a day). Once through the "intro" you can up it to 15 grams of carbs per meal. If you want to use those carbs for fruit, you can.
I have started my own diet, semi low carb (40 minimum) and have added fruits but eat them with some fat or protein to slow the insulin response so a granny smith apple with some nut butter, rasperries and sugar free youghurt or nectarine and a handful of nuts or cottage cheese. It is so good to eat fruits again
I think that sticking with the berries and low sugar fruit is your best option. I've recently gone past induction level carbs and have added berries and a couple of bites of cherries to my diet. What I have realized is that this is a double edge sword - the berries taste a lot sweeter to me than ever before, without adding any artificial sweetener, so now I have to be extra careful with portion control.
But, it also shows me that fruit will make an excellent dessert for me, in moderate portions, and that I will hopefully be able to avoid worse things like cookies and such in the future.
Berries come back after induction, like mentioned start with the lower carb/sugar ones like :
Blueberries (fresh) ¼ cup 5.1
Cantaloupe/honeydew ¼ cup 3.5
Raspberries (fresh) ¼ cup 3.6
Strawberries (fresh) ¼ cup 2.6
