Smile avatar

hi Shirley ...

These small images are called Avatars. They are displayed below your username on all posts that you make. There are two kinds of avatars: those provided by the administrator and those that you upload yourself from your computer.

To add an avatar to your username .... click on 'User CP' (top left of the green menu bar), then select 'Edit Avitar' from the menu on the left.

You can select one of the cute avatar icons from the database, or if you have your own picture in a file on your computer, you can use that, by selecting Custom Avatar at the bottom. Use the Browse menu to find your file, and be sure that "yes" is selected in the Custom Avatar section. Then click Submit, and voilà ...

(note, your pic can't be any larger than 100 x 100 pixels, or 20 Kb, whichever is largest ... so you might need to use an image editor to shrink it down if necessary)

Hi Shirley,

Simply click on teh "Profile" icon on top right, which gives you access to change all your options/profile fields etc.

For pics, go to Edit Options, and select the avatar option at the bottom.

Exclamation *** PLEASE NOTE ***

There's a bit of a problem when submitting a custom avatar ... You MUST make sure that the "yes" option is checked before you click Submit ... It has a nasty habit of UNchecking itself after you browse your computer and choose your file, so you must be sure that "yes" is highlighted beside the "use custom avatar" option.

If you don't, the profile will simply use the first avatar that's in the database HERE, which is this:

Doreen, I have been trying to attach a photo for weeks. Everytime I try I am told that the pic is too big. It has to be 100x100 pixles. I am trying many different ones and can't get it to work. Any help is appreciated.

If you right-click on your picture, a menu box will pop up. Click on Properties ... you'll see the size and dimensions listed. The avatar pic can't be any larger than 20KB (20,000 bytes) or 100 x 100 pixels.

You need to use an image editor to shrink the picture and/or change the resolution (number of pixels per inch). Your scanner or printer likely came with a simple editor, also there's Windows Paint, which you'll find in your Accessories folder from Startup > Programs. The help files will guide you through.

hiya smore,

Once you've selected the avatar you wish, make sure you click on "Submit Modifications" at the bottom. That should do the trick

Hmm .. I click on your profile, and get 7 posts, which is accurate at this point in time. Try hitting the Refresh button in your browser ... that will make sure the most current profile page is loaded for your browsing session.

hi yvette,

Post a reply to this ...

Below the message box where you type your post, you'll see the Attach file option. Find the file on your computer using the Browse button (eg - C:\My Documents\My Pictures\mypic..jpeg .... or wherever it is )

Submit the post.

Then we can help to resize and put it in your profile for you
