Default G.I. plan, and a ketosis question

Been reading up on G.I. and know that carbs are still somewhat restricted.

Given that fact, and other rules combined, I'm curious, would one actually go into ketosis, or would the carbs negate that? Also, does weight loss tend to be a bit slower than L.C.? If ketosis is a sure sign that fats are being burned, if you are not in ketosis, what is the science behind losing weight? Is it simply less carb intake? Or a combination of factors?

I hope this makes sense.

I have 6 lbs. to lose after going off L.C. and regaining after meeting my goal, and am looking for something less restrictive, so that I can have more fruit, especially during summer. Plus it would be easier to cook for DH and myself at the same time. I just want those 6 lbs. gone, and not risk gaining more.

Thanks!

Ketosis helps stave off hunger, fat is used primarily instead of glucose for fuel and it helps one to be able to have more calories and still lose weight.

However, the G.I. diet is just a higher carb diet/low-fat diet repackaged to be somewhat lower in carbs but still higher carb - so it would have to be a low-calorie diet in order to lose weight. Hunger may or may not be an issue.

Have you looked at CAD or CALP as an alternative? 2 Atkins style meals and one reward meal where you can have fruit, rice, whatever with the rest of the meal. Come check in on us. It is easier and more moderate.

GI is not just a higher carb/lower fat diet. I follow SugarBusters which is based on the GI. This is definitely NOT a low calorie way of eating! I eat more calories now than I ever did before.

Please don't bash a different way of eating if you haven't read about it.

I have been in ketosis and out of ketosis on SugarBusters. Ketosis is not the only sign that fat is being burned, in fact some people will NEVER show ketosis on the sticks.

It is true for me that weight loss is slower on SuB, but it is the only way that I can lose while still cooking for my family. My entire family is now "doing" SuB.

If you want to chat about SuB drop me a private message.
