Default Body fat calculation formula and charts

This one is a bit tricky, so I'll try to explain a bit how it works.

Unlike a straight forward web form, where you plug the numbers and get a result, ours is a progressive chart, and uses your historical information.

The formula currently (we'll add a few optional formulas) used is the US Navy formula:

http://www.nhrc.navy.mil/programs/BodyFat/index.html

For men:

%Fat=495/(1.0324-.19077(log(abdomen-neck))+.15456(log(height)))-450

For women:

%Fat=495/(1.29579-.35004(log(abdomen+hip-neck))+.22100(log(height)))-450

But as you progress in your fat loss, your dimensions/measurements change, hopefully getting lower

To start generating you body fat chart, you will need to first enter your height. This can be entered from the "Edit Settings" option in the main page.

Then, you will need to enter your measurements, either weekly or monthly. Make sure you enter all the required data:

For men: Height (from settings), Neck and Waist

For women: Height (from settings), Neck, Waist and Hips.

Once there's enough sufficent data entered (minimum of one full set of data) , you can see your body fat progress chart from the "Edit measurements" menu option.

Hi! I am trying to enter my measurements..........got a question about "waist". Is this (in women, anyway) our natural waistline, or is it measurement at the navel? I use a different online BF calculator, and they recommend the latter measuring spot. Regardless, is it possible to add a spot for "abdomen" or "navel" on the chart?

And another question............... Under Stats & Reports, Size & Body Fat, we get the Body Fat Chart, with one's Body Fat Ratio. My marker points range from a 14 to a 6....what do these mean? I know it's not BF% or pounds of fat lost! (Yeah, don't I wish!)

For women, it's at the smalles waist pont.

For men, it's at the naval..

It is the body fat ratio. Make sure your height, weight and measurements are entered correctly.

Ok, I went back and edited my waist measurements (which are considerably smaller than my navel), and now the body fat numbers range from 3 to 8. I'm pretty sure they should be around 34%.

edit: aha! think I found a bug, maybe? I checked my height, and I have a 5 in the feet box, and a 70 in the inches. I originally entered a 7.5 in the inches box. I re-entered it, and rechecked it, and it still wants to read 5 feet, 70 inches. Huh.

So what did you enter for height, waist, hips and neck?

Ok, got it now, but I had to enter 5 feet, 075 inches. Now I have the correct body fat.

Still, I'd consider it a bug, since if it's not going to accept 7.5 inches, it should give an error, and not take it as 70
