Lightbulb posting links

The question has come up several times in the last few days, how to put a link to a webpage in a message.

To post a link ... simply type or paste the URL into your message. The link will be created for you when you submit the post. It's not like an email, where the link is created and underscored as soon as you type it.

Don't use the hyperlink http:// button unless you want to create a true hyperlink, which is a 2-step process.

examples:

- here's a simple link to our forums' main index page .. http://forum.lowcarber.org/ .... I just copied and pasted directly from my browser's address bar

- here's the hyperlink .. our forums' main index page .. you paste the URL into the first menu box that pops up, then type in the message you want to appear in the second box. Again, the hyperlink will appear when you submit the post.

(personally, I type in the codes manually; I find it faster than using the buttons and menu boxes)

You can always use "Preview Reply" if you want to check to make sure a link works before you submit your message.

Hope this helps

Doreen

And don't forget if you've made a booboo in your post or want to format something differently you can "edit " by hitting "edit / delete " and going back. You have 2 days to do this, and you cannot delete your post.

Hint:

Here's a shortcut for copying the url link to any page ... Simply right-click on the link, and a menu box will pop up. Select "copy shortcut". Then you just paste (or Ctrl+V) into your message.

For example, right above this thread of messages, you 'll see: Active Low-Carber Forums > Our Website > Comments Box and Technical Questions > Posting Links in messages, and Other Hints. You can right-click on any one of the underlined links and then copy it. In fact, you can right-click on the links right here in my message to do the same

This is true for any url link around the web.

Jacob -

You can't get or receive personal messages via this system until you have 25 posts to your credit. Keep posting and you'll be there in no time. You can even respond to this one if you want and be one more post to the goal.

Welcome!!!
