Default Intense Aerobics with WEights!

Hey there..

I was hoping that this is the right place to post and ask my questions about working out related to weight loss...

IF NOT ...PLEASE let me know..

I workout all the time..its my life...I do the most advanced aerobic workout at least once a day...plus walking all day from class to class..doing chores around the house..and even doing my own dancing to my music in my room....now..with all that working out..one should say..no matter what you eat..you should be as thin as a stick....at leat that is what everyone tells me...

My question is...it seems that many people are sitting here doing atkins...and not even exercising..and losing weight..and I workout non-stop...and don't see results like non-exercising people....what could be wrong???

Thanks alot.

Casandra

Hi
to lose fat you have to burn more calories than you're eating, that's simple.

Do you know how many calories you are having everyday?
that may be the answer to your problem. maybe you're just eating too much (or too low).

Hey Marie...

Thanks for posting..
I am aware that one should burn more than they intake for weight loss and such...

That is what i don't understand... i am following atkins...and get between 900-1300 calories a day...its mostly around 1100...but it could get as high as that..or as low as 900....

Hey Casandra, I get that too - with everything I do, I should be as thin as a rail. As said above, make sure you are eating enough but not too much or too little. I started losing better when I incorporated weight training with my cardio. Do you only do cardio or weight training? Weight training has done wonders for me.

I feel like an A** I just saw intense aerobics AND weights on your title. Anyway, go to one of those websites that tells you how many cals you should be eating. They ask questions about your level of activity. I'm not saying this is your case but sometimes people don't eat enough and their body is in conservation/starvation mode. It's needing food - not knowing when it is going to get it so it won't burn. You know all of this I am sure but sometimes it just takes someone else to say it. Good luck!

Yoyaney...

Hey...thanks for posting...

I have done previously..the following..

1. Jane Fonda's advanced workouts with weight on my wrists and ankles

2. The Grind Workout...both levels.
3. Paula Abdul's dance workout.
4. TAe Bo for a long time with weights on my wrists and ankles.
5. NOw i am into the best workout there is in the world in my opinion..TURBO JAM..and i do that with wrist and ankle weights...and when i do the Booty sculpt and abs workout..i add another 10 pounds..to tone..

the wrist weights are about 2.5 each...and the ankle one are about 1.5 each..and the free ones i do with the toning DVD is about 5 eacy....

i have checked out those sites..several times..but don't beleive what they say....as bad as that sounds..it says that according to my current weight..height...activity level ..i should be intaking like two thousand something calories......currently ..i consume between 1300-1500....i am following atkins too...

I just get so frustrated....not knowing what to do....i have tried lowering intake...but then thats too low...if i go below 1300...which alot of days i am...then i feel i might be putting my body in starvation...but when i consume too much..then even with my workout..i am bloated and feel fatter the next day...

Hope SOMEONE can relate...if not..i would LOVE advice from you....

Many thanks again for posting..

Marie....

Hey there..

OK...for example..i will tell you what i had today...

First..I made this flax bread here at home..with the following ingredients:

1 ounce butter
4 tbps flaxseed, freshly ground at home
1/2 tsp baking powder
2 eggs

This recipe can make 2 slices of bread...it has a total of 3 net carbs..and 570 calories..

so..this is what i had so far...

2 slices of flax bread...with 1 small tomato and 1 small cucumber....
1 ounce of mozzerlla cheese
1 medium tomato with some mayo
1 cup of Okra with tomato and lean meat

Since i am following atkins....i am allowed 20 net carbs....and so that is my 20 net carbs for the day...my calorie intake is 1122...

hi casandra

yes, 1122 cal is very little. it's actually about my daily intake though.

but i weigh less than you, so I need less also.

have you ever thought about quitting atkins?

reintroduce carbs in your diet?
or is it something that you certainely don't want to do?

Are you obsessing over the scale? Exercise results in more muscle tissue, which means more weight. I was eating about 1400 cals per day and exercising hard 1-2 hours a day but the other 22 hours a day I was sitting at a desk or sleeping. Daily intake has to be balanced against daily activity level.

I tossed out the scale. Now I use a caliper. I don't always like what it tells me but the truth hurts.

Yeah..I realize that..i do see results in my figure...the abs..the muscles...i guess i just got jelous of everyone who was losing weight on the scale..but ur right..as long as i am seeing change..it doesn't hve to be numbers......

I have thought about quitting atkins..and have once before...but felt horrible once back on regular routine..so..i got back on atkins....

I know its bad..but sometimes i go as low as 900 calories...and its not on purpose..but beucase thats what it ended up being...

I guess i am just slow at losing weight..it seems everyone else is dropping pounds in no time..specially on atkins..

thanks all
Casandra

I think people who are dropping pounds in no time are people that have maybe more to lose.

If you have 15 pounds to lose, that comes to the hardest part I think

atkins is maybe not what is the best for you, I don't know.

Don't lose your motivation, and don't tell yourself you're a "case", and that is easy for everybody else but you because that's not the case..

try to get more info on bodybuilding web sites, regarding your training, and your nutrition needs. People here won't be able to guide you and find the way for you to lose weight. But we can answer more precise questions once you have set up your program

YEah...I just read a reply to another post...and the lady had said something that made a lot of sense...not that I don't know it....

I have just been expecting to lose pounds....but thats not how it has to be....one can gain muscle..and lookslimmer...without losing a pound..and even gaining.......and thats the case with me...gosh..i feel like a DORK...its like...losing pounds was blinding me from seeing anything else but the desire to see numbers go down onthescale..

Thank you...and i will keep up with my cardio/aerobics with weights....
