No milk. Some people are fans of the Hood Carb Countdown milk.

For anyone reading this, and easy way to calculate your protein requirements per meal is to take your body weight and divide it by 6. That will give you the minimum amount per meal.

If you use kilos divide your weight by 2.7.

If you weigh more than 250 pounds, use 250 as the weight in your calculation.

oh my gosh..

I've been following the old PP book and calculated my LBM and protein requirements through that - and came out on the 27g a meal and with this new method I'm at the 40g a meal requirement!

That's a HUGE difference. I did think the 27 was a little low and so have been aiming for a total of 100 day/33 a meal.. I don't know if I can chock much more in, I'm stuffed as it is.

Abbey, there's nothing wrong with using the calcs from the original PP book. Just think of them (as you appear to be doing) as a minimum, and then if you do happen to get more than that, you're all good.

By the weight-divided-by-six method, I actually get 33g/meal or 100g/day; using PP book calcs, I'm in the 27g/meal, or 81g/day. Believe me, there are some days when getting in 81g of protein is a work of art.

OK, so I am at 262 but using the 250 as mentioned above, I come out with 43 gms of protein minimal at each meal? I'd have to eat a steer at each meal to do that!

Default How much protein?

I'm 6'0 228 lbs and pretty active...how much protein should I be taking per meal/day. Does it have to be spread out throughout the day or can I just
double or triple up?

Thanks...

The quick answer (from Protein Power Lifeplan) is 40 gm per meal.

Hi fastercbr, to add to the 40g per meal recommendation...you can have more than that if you feel you need it, since I'm assuming Larry gave you the MINIMUM listing from his PPLP chart. It's a good idea to spread this all out during the day...carbs and protein "per meal" but you can adjust according to your needs and hunger and activity level. Do you work out? (You said you're active, but I don't want to assume.)

Anyhow, good luck and come back if you have any more questions!

PPLP says 34 grams per meal or 102 grams per day. When you get down to 155 pounds you should reduce to 27 grams per meal.

Hi! I have calculated my protein requirement three times and it doesn't seem right. I am 317lbs female and 5'4". I have calculated it to be 104 grms per day. Is this right?

According to the Protein Power LIfplan book, women over 300 pounds should have 46 grams (7 to 8 ounces of meat) per meal, which works out to be 138 grams a day.

That's the minimum requirement. You can have more.

No problem. You probably used the convoluted formula in the first book. In the second book, they provided a simple chart where you look up your weight and height. Done deal.

Good luck!
