Default A Paleo Breakfast (perhaps)

What do you eat in the mornings?

Sometimes I have a handful of olives and raw nuts.

Other times it is a coconut bowl muffin.

Eggs and avocado make for a good breakfast. As do a couple of handfuls of nuts.

The old standby of bacon and eggs.

Or berries with cream and nuts (not strictly paleo though).

Or coconut milk with cinnamon and raw eggs.

Hmmm... along the lines of coconut milk and egg I think one could make a really good custard. I should give that a shot.

Almond milk and egg makes a lovely custard. I've had that before. I should make some...

On days that I cook for 2, we have bacon and eggs.

If its just me, I often eat leftovers. Lately I've been on a kielbasa kick, although I don't think that's optimal even if I did find a good one.

Or, my grocery carries a processed beef that's like 'steak'umms' but is 100 % coleman beef, and that makes a good breakfast with my mustard/vinegar/bacon fat sauce.

I used to have protein shakes, just for variety, but after being off them for a while, I believe my body doesn't actually like them. No surprise. I just wasn't ready to give them up before.

Sometimes DH and I will split a Larabar or a Clif Nectar bar in the car on the way to work. They both are pretty much the same thing, and are made of a base of dates and nuts with added flavors. If we split one, we each get about 10g carb which isn't too bad.

If we don't eat that, we don't eat. We're not breakfast people.

During the week it's hard-boiled eggs, fruit and nuts. If I don't eat enough at breakfast, I get irritable and have a hard time concentrating on my work.

On weekends, I tend to eat later and eat meat and veggies.

There's nothing better than a big fat piece of sausage sitting beneath a big fat slice of an heirloom tomato. That's what I'm having in the morning. Yum!

I've made custard with coconut milk instead of cream. I added some coconut oil to make up for the lower fat content of the coconut milk (compared to the heavy cream the recipe called for), and an extra egg yolk to emulsify the extra oil and insure that it would set. The original recipe called for vanilla - I also added cardamom since that goes so well with coconut. It didn't have quite the same mouthfeel as heavy cream, but was still pretty darn good.

ETA oh good grief. Wrong thread again, this should be in recipes.

obBreakfast: yeah, I'd eat this for breakfast. Why not.

If your icon on the top right was pink and had an upside down cross, we could work something out!

If I have any breakfast, it's usually left over and eggs and plain instant coffee with 1g chocamine.

LOL! Hilarious! I didn't think of the way that may be alternatively interpreted! (Hey, I was hungry at the time I wrote it, but if it helps, what I had in mind was more of a breakfast sausage patty, as opposed to a weiner.)

Aw, man, my face must be red right now!
