Really? You claim that everyone who goes and stays on a diet lowers their blood pressure permanently in only a week or two? I think that's the claim that demands proof. I can only provide myself as proof that it is not true.

Are you saying you went on a diet that made you pee a lot at first, lowered your blood pressure, then, without raising carbs, without raising calories, without cheating, sticking strictly with the very same diet, the water weight you lost at first came back later?

I've been low-carbing for almost 8 years. My BP at the beginning was 140/90. It is now 100/70. Whatever the biochemical reason of the decrease was, I'm staying with the LC.

No, I'm saying my blood pressure stayed the same.

That doesn't contradict anything I've said though. But I see now that I misinterpreted your question. Water loss doesn't always lower blood pressure, I agree.

Default Blood Pressure

Happy LC IMO you are probably eating or drinking something that you are "allergic" to if your blood pressure did not return to normal. I am 64 YO & took high blood pressure for years. After I went totally GF (which was mostly grain free also) my blood pressure went right back to normal - much to my shock. My family was worried & took my blood pressure after I had been off the meds for a couple of months. My blood pressure was normal & better than any of theirs !!

just the last week or so on one of the main TV channels here in Houston, Texas there was a segment about an MD who put 20 of her patients on a Paleo diet & within one week their blood pressure improved & their blood sugar & within two weeks their cholesterol levels were better. The doctor was saying how great the Paleo diet is. I was just so shocked to see Paleo on the news!!

So if you are on blood pressure meds then IMO you need to be looking to see why you are on those meds. It could be that either you have a deformity with your blood vessels or you are eating something that you should not be eating. Are you eating any grains, high fructose corn syrup or hydrogenated vegetable oil? All those would be very bad things for your blood vessels...

A good thing to do is to save your bacon grease & use it to cook with.

I believe it is really a very simple answer... Eliminate starch until you are at desired weight, or add to adjust performance or weight goals.

People make things so complex when they are not. Figure out your goal, follow and then re-evaluate down the road.

PS: On the flip side stay LC with veggies forever... It certainly will not hurt you.
