I have been wanting to try CO, but didn't know which kind to get.

Now, I think I would want to order both kinds.

Thanks for this thread!

Hi - I've been lurking here the past few days and wow, you guys know your stuff. Still working through the original Bear thread with great interest.

FYI, I use Omega Nutrition organic expeller-pressed coconut oil (they also have a virgin CO) and I love it. I got a 16oz container for 10 bucks (CDN) at a HFS but you can order online as well - a 32oz goes for $14.50 USD. The CO is imported from the Phillipines.

Hi all!,
Well, I've gone and done it.......after lurking here for 100s of pages, here's my first input.

I just recently bought 2 jars of Wilderness Family Naturals, coconut oil, both the Centrifuge and the expellar pressed. Both seem very good, the centrifuge where you want coconut flavor and the expellar for cooking where you don't want the flavor.

As I understand it the expellar one gets heated more removing any of the remaining flavor/proteins. There unsweetened shredded coconut is also really good.

One of these days I want to try the TT oil also, anyone try both?

As an aside, anyone know what happened to the totally carnivorous support thread....all of a sudden it's gone, I had finally caught up and was going to post there and all of a sudden it's closed....is it going to be re-opened or is it permanent...it doesn't say.

Its a bummer, I spend days reading all the threads to this and original, so I could post intelligently, then i got to the end and its closed. ..I totally understand closing the original though)

Thanks,
Scott

Default Low Carb Coconut Pudding Recipe

Oh and assuming you are all coconut lovers.....here's something I've come up with that I and my wife love. A small amount is usually very satisfying also.

Take a can of coconut cream and warm it in a sauce pan.
Add softened or warmed Cream cheese, or Creme Fraiche' to your own taste. (Between none and 1/2 stick.
Add a pinch of Salt (Don't skip unless you are REALLY adverse to salt, as this helps bring out the flavors and give you that Sweet/Salty blend so prevalent in good Thai food.
separately dissolve a packet of Knox Gelatine in cold water.(Then add to above mix-once cream cheese is disolved.)
Turn heat off or remove from burner.
Add about a T of Real Vanilla
Add some Fresh Lime, Lemon or both. (or use Minutemaid frozen Juices,- It actually tastes like fresh, and keeps virtually forever in the frig.{But don't ever use those nasty tasting little plastic round lemon/lime shaped juices...Ugh}) I prefer mostly Lime, w/ a touch of lemon.

Sweeten to taste w/ Liquid splenda, stevia, your favorite, or a mix.
If you have Coconut extract or the low-carb coconut flavoring like torani's add some of those also...to enhance the coconut flavor.

After pouring out into dish/s Sprinkle a little Shredded unsweetened coconut on-top if you would like(even better if you toast it)

It's a great treat and really healthy too. I have a couple spoon-fulls after dinner and any time I want to satisfy a snacking urge.

Feel free to experiment with ingredients as I change it up a bit each time I make it, for different effects. (The more Cream cheese you use the more of a cheesecake effect you will get, but the less coconut you will taste)
