Default anyone missing jalapeno poppers?????

Last night I had a terrible craving. Jalapeno poppers!!!!!
So I went to the garden and picked some.....
I posted this in the recipe forum too but thought some of us here might be having the craving too......

Cut the peppers in half and remove the seeds and veins
Fill each half with cream cheese. I fill them even with the pepper

Whip up one egg

I make my breading this way
2 tbl ground almonds
2 tbls plain soy protein
I season it to taste (Salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder)

Dip the stuffed pepper halves in the egg wash to coat
Then dredge into the breading anf drop into a hot fryer.
Cook till golden brown.
I serve them with a homemade ranch dressing.

So yummy its almost sinful.
My son sat at the dinner table flabergasted that these could work on a diet!!
Of course I did not share hehehe

Out of the mix you make you really do not get much carbs. They will leak some when cooked since not the same as the higher carb version. When I made these at my resturant the old fasioned way I froze them for a few hours at least all breaded nad they leaked less. But even if they leak a little not frozen they are still yummy. Freezing also softens the pepper if you prefer it that way

I saw this recipe yesterday and went home straight away to make them. I used pork rinds. The coating turned out really well..but the peper was still quite hard. Should blanch them first. Sidebar..I cut into the pepper without gloves and prepared them. Later than night I took a shower and was preparing to go out. I put a contact in and youch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! peper oil stays on the fingers awhile even after washing your hands and showering.

You make me feel lazy. I just fill the peppers with
cream cheese then wrap it with thin sliced bacon and
broil. Heck I thought I was almost a gormet. I can't wait
to try your recipe. They make a great 'bring with' to take
to parties.

irisda,
If you freeze them after breading them for a few hours that will soften them up like what you get in the resturants. If you blanch them you loose vitamins and flavor. I did this in my resturant all the time. I personally like them firmer. But thats from poping them into the fryer while I was preparing them.
I never wore gloves going jalapenos but I do when working with thia and habanaro peppers.

Thanks for the recipe -- I wondered what I was going to do with all those peppers still out on the vine!

This may be a stupid question, but some of them have turned red -- does this effect the taste?

(first time I've raised jalepenos -- amazing how many you can get from 2 plants)

I seem to get most of mine off the vine before they go red. But yes they sure grow a lot. I can some and the rest get used in fresh salsa and in poppers. I think I have used a few red ones in the past
